emkay
Looks as if i am the only one who don't like this version (sorry Super-Genius!). Let's go more into detail -the gameplay is somewhere between good and fun -Graphics are ok while ingame -Sound is allover crap. The C64 version lives by the music. This version sounds like done in 1979 and not in 1989. Some effects are missing..etc.
Dracon
-Sound is allover crap. The C64 version lives by the music. Well, you seems to be too critical about this. Music may have been more dynamic, but overall is decent as it comes from 1989 year yet. I like colorful graphics ingame and of course the title screen rocks!!! I wonder if Super-Genius and the rest hide more nice titles like this... (?) It would be cool to see and play them before passing away, anyway. Goochman
Agreed Dracon - There are alot of nice graphical touches in this conversion that you normally didnt see on 8bit conversions way back when. I thought it looked and palyed well. I dont know much about the game music but that doesnt impact me as much.
oesii
I think it looks good and plays great for an unreleased game. Always fun to have another popular port for the 8bits and thanks to Mark for making the game available. I compared it to the 7800 version too, this game is one of the few titles that really shows what the 7800 could do with graphics and gameplay. And you know some of us keep our C64's away in storage so that's not an option
DracIsBack
Just placed my order. Out of curiosity, who did this conversion? The 7800 version was done by SCULPTURED SOFTWARE and they did such a kick-ass job that I wished they had also done the 7800 version of DOUBLE DRAGON, which Imagineering kind of - well - tripped through. Super-Genius!
You have quite a few options for Multi player.... First, you can play over the phone line with a modem. You can also hook 16 computers up using a MIDImate (which will be made available). Or, you can hook it up to with an 850 Interface. All of the above options use the SIO port. You can also interface with an ST computer and play MIDI maze! The game also has a chat window, so you can "chat" over the phone line while you are playing!! Gunstar
I have miditrack 3 with hybrid Art's midimate for the 8-bit(give you the standard midi ports, it's attached to the SIO port), is midimaze made to work with it? it would be very cool if I could use it to connect to my ST for multiplayer using my ST's midi cables...is this the midimate you are speaking of? Some effects are missing..etc. I agree that the music is pretty basic, but it's also pretty basic in the arcade version (the 64 music was jazzed up quite a bit). I guess that's what happens when you don't have Rob Hubbard around. -Bry

Nifty version of the game. I like the down+fire for throwing grenades too. 1989, you say? Kinda late to be marketing a game to kids in which the hero is smoking to celebrate his victory. +Allan
It would be great if we could set up a Midi-Maze competition at Philly Classic 5. If a bunch of people brought their copies plus their XE/XL's with monitors it would be a blast! Allan
