Yes...how dare them for not spreading themselves as thin as they did back in the '80s :P

It's a marketing decision. Both PS2 and Xbox are currently ahead of the GC.

Considering how crappy most of their console releases have been, they may actually be doing the GameCube a favor.

Well.. I didn't see the movie and wouldn't play the game anyway, but yes. Fuck Atari for not supporting the Game Cube. The one system that could use the most support. FUCKING ASSHOLES! Drop support for the least advanced console! The PS2! Not the one that needs the most help! Dumbfucks.

That work for you? Ok, good. I'll be in my trailer.

Well.. the adult in me is glad to see the Cube not get the good games. Maybe it'll convince Nintendo it's time to start actually COMPETING.

But the Kid in me loves the Frosting! I mean.. the kid in me is sad to see another Nintendo console die off so forgotten.

They're struggling. And I'd much rather see Sony go to Hell... well, actually, I'd rather see Microsoft go to hell, but in the Console war, I'd rather it be Sony.

if nintendo does fall out of the gaming biz, then things will go south for the gaming industry in general, just like the WWF after they shut down all of their competition, so sony and ms will lose

i myself also would like to see sony go down rather than nintendo - but unfortunatly that isnt going to happen - but if atari cant make the time for nintendo, that obviously should tell most people something
i dont even think jeff minters game unity will make it out in time while the console is still "alive"
its funny in his article he said hes had it with dying or dead systems to work on, so thats why he choose the gamecube... uh jeff, me thinks you shouldve picked the xbox ;)

Well, Yak loves the Cube anyway. That game is a labour of love, it will come out even if Gamecubes are no longer manufactured or sold. The GC has got a good solid year yet, plus a year of tapering off....Unity will be out when it's ready, no sooner, and hopefully more than just his fans will buy it.

no doubt it'll be released no matter what - if i ever get a gamecube whether its @ 99$ or when its done for cheaper - that would be the only reason i would ever pick up a gamecube - Jeff's stuff is always worth playing -ill have to re-adjust my fingers on my hand to use the controller ;) but im sure itll be worth it, but other than his game (for myself) i see absolutly no other reason to own one :D

Frankly, I come for the atmosphere and the video game chat.

What's Atari? :ponder:

I don't think Atari Now = Atari 5 years ago. So, yeah.

The Atari that made consoles = Good.
The Atari that just makes games = Bad? I guess. I dunno.

You got that right, otherwise people would have never had the joy of what T2K is. :)

How about "The Atari that was really Atari" vs. "The Atari that is actually dumb-ass Infogrames"?

Ah well... there were many points where one could argue that the "real" Atari died. Possibly when Bushnell sold it to Warner Bros. But definitely by the time Tramiel took over.

I wonder if the Cube going down to $99 might spur enough sales to change Atari's mind?

Frankly I probably wouldn't have bought either game soI don't care about this announcement. Since I do own and love my GC, it is disturbing to see support start to disappear. Let's hope the big N has something up their sleeve to save it.

Atari is not the only one. Eidos said they are done with GC games. Ubi Soft has pulled the GC versions on many games. EA Sports also may be opting out. I read they are'nt happy with the tiny disc format. Some large games have to be broken into two discs and your back to disc swapping (ala Tiger 2004), EA doesn't like that.

Well, I've got a few of the new Atari Xbox titles and I think they are FANTASTIC! APEX anyone? As far as them not making game for Nintendo's GC, good. damn good. Nintendo screwed Atari over yesteryear, so now Atari get's to help push Nintendo off that cliff they are teetering on right now, Atari's seen the bottom of that cliff, I guess they think it's time to help show Nintendo the way. :D

Please, before we go down this path of Atari wreaking some sort of vengeance upon Nintendo, let's remember that the Atari that exists today has NOTHING to do with the old Atari whatsoever, except for acquiring rights to the name and bastardizing the Fuji logo.

For myself I hope that NONE of the systems get the boot. In fact, I wish Sega would make another console and that other companies would join in also and make some systems.

Reason being is that more competition means better products in the end. I can't imagine it if only GM and Ford made cars and I think if only Xbox and Sony are making games that we are going to be missing out on some great great innovative and creative projects.

Yah, I know that gaming isn't the same as automobiles, especially that car's are pretty much a necessity where games aren't. And that the limited market for game systems won't support a lot of companies making systems. But that doesn't change my belief that if there are only 1 or 2 systems available that a lot of potenially good products will be lost down the pooper.

When you monopolize the market you do what you want, not what your customers want. I don't believe for a minute that if Sony or Microsoft owned the marketplace that you would see innovative titles like Seaman or Samba Di Amigo or GTA available. Nope you'd be getting nothing but Tomb Raider 10, Tetris 914, Super Duper Megaman X431, and other "safe" titles that are just a rehash of something they made a dollar or two off of last year.

Just my opinion.

Out of all the announcements of companies no longer supporting the Gamecube, the only game that I'm really dissappointed about is ESPN NHL Hockey. Atari, Eidos, and Acclaim haven't really made much worthwhile lately, but without Sega's hockey games, all we have is EA's lousy garbage :( Oh well, at least we got NHL 2K3....

I guess it doesn't matter that Atari (sic) have stopped making games for the cube. I doubt it'll alter its fortunes. Nintendo are still very much riding on their first-party support anyway. It'll be their undoing, yeah, but they do make some great stuff.
Gaming is in(everything but profit) a sad way at the moment. I go into a games store and see nothing on any console that makes me want to buy it. Heck, I don't even go up to the playposts anymore.
My gamecube has gone back into its box, the PS2 has been sold and I've gone back to the Dreamcast and Saturn, picking up titles I missed and rediscovering titles I'd forgotten.
I'm sure I'll get the cube out occasionally, but it won't be to play an 'Atari' title - I'm sure I can live without any more Matrix games.
As for Ikaruga, their saving grace, if they didn't publish it, I'm sure someone else would have.
