Jeez, I hope this works with existing games, but I'm not holding out much hope. Plus, they'd better offer it separate from that Pokemon game...

Nintendo's biting the wax tadpole. Sony and Nokia have kicked their asses soundly, and the big N is poorly playing catchup. Fuck Pokemon! Is that ALL the use of linked gaming Nintendo has to offer? Fuck Nintendo for making my GAMECUBE'S network adapter all but utterly useless. Jesus, I may as well go down to Larry's Super Pawn and get that SATURN SIX-PLAYER ADAPTER I saw. Not that I have a Saturn anymore, but it will probably be more useful that the $35 piece of obje d'art I have stuck in the ass of my Gamecube.

I don't get all this Bluetooth hoopla... okay, it's neat that you can play without wires, but Bluetooth really doesn't have much range. You'll be lucky to get 10 meters out of it. Now, in what situation will you be forced to play someone 10 meters away that you couldn't get closer to connect a cable? Not to mention that the cables are likely much cheaper than these wireless modules, much more reliable (Bluetooth is no slouch, but interference is always possible), and you only need one. Aside from convenience, geek value, and possibly the ability to do multiplayer gaming in the middle of class without anyone noticing, I really don't see a lot of benefit to this.

I'm guessing Nintendo is just responding to Bluetooth claims by Nokia and Sony for their handhelds.

Why would you be sitting more than 30 feet from someone you wanted to play a linked handheld game with? Bluetooth is all about friendly proximity. Other standards are better for extended distance (like sharing your high speed internet line with your neighbors).

Geeze! Will they EVER run out of Pokémon colors?

"Fire Red"

"Green Leaf"

???

Isn't this Pokémon Green, Pokémon Red, Pokémon Ruby...

As a former Fanboy, I should say Nintendo seems to only be living on Life Support. Life Suppor being Pokémon.

And actually, I'd rather the Wireless device be built into the GB, but at least this means you won't need yet ANOTHER new GBA to play. How much will the devices be separate? WIll it work like a regular cable or will you have to use games MADE for the Wireless?

The next Pokemon color will be upchuck gray. Well probably not, except until I get through ralphing all over the store display.

Their pinball games however are still the shiznit. I'm even proud of the fact I caught the hidden "Wish" pokemon #201 in Sapphire (final score was over 4 billion).

That's sort of the point... you're not likely to be that far away, so using Bluetooth instead of normal link cables seems like overkill to me. However, I've heard it can do five player, and using this for four player games sure would eliminate the cord tangle. The chances of finding four other people with this device seems unlikely to me though.

Long range multiplayer would have it's advantages though. You could play someone across town perhaps, or between two cars on a long trip. Since the N-Gage is a cell phone, you'd think it would have some ability to game over a telephone call (expense aside of course).

By the way, here's a picture of the device, showing how it connects to a GBA SP.

From what I've read, here's how it works... Fire Red is a remake of the original Pokemon Red, and Green Leaf is a remake of the original Pokemon Green. I think there's another one or two in there as well for the original versions of Pokemon Yellow and Blue, but I may be wrong. I imagine they'll all get the GBA treatment, and will probably have updated Pokemon listings and newer stuff that wasn't in the originals. I imagine the only thing that would be the same would be the storyline (Funny how there are about 15 Pokemon games, yet only 3 or 4 storylines...). Also, Nintendo plans on bringing out Pokemon Colosseum eventually (It's basically Pokemon Stadium for the Gamecube), and these new versions should feature some connectivity stuff with it.

One thing I'll never understand is why Nintendo doesn't make a REAL Pokemon game (that is, an RPG style game like the GB games) for the Gamecube. I'm not a fan of the series, but a suped-up 3D Pokemon collecting RPG game would sell like hotcakes, and could quite possibly rocket the Gamecube past the X-Box... They made this omission with the N64 as well, and I would have thought they'd learn from it. All these sideshow Pokemon games like Snap, Stadium, Colosseum etc don't cut it.

Hey. I just had a weird thought. In theory, could you plug this thing into a GB Player? And play that wirelessly too? And what if you have two GCN's with two Players on two TV's, could you play wirelessly from room to room?

If not, the thing's worthless as that'd be one KICK ASS setup. Forget the teeny tiny screen of the GBA, Play it on your TV! WIRELESSLY!

That would be pretty neat... but I have a feeling it wouldn't work. It looks like the device clicks into those notches on the top of the GBA, and I'm not sure if those notches are part of the GBA Player (correct me if I'm wrong).

You're wrong. They ARE on the player! That's how you are able to connect the eReader to it.

Anyone else wanna answer my question?
