Wow... that is one serious Game Gear collection... I'm honestly not entirely sure what it would be worth... but with that many games, I'd guess somewhere around $250-$300, if not more. I don't know if any of those games are rare though, so it's difficult to say.

I wouldn't worry about this being broken... there are no actual components to the device, all it does is remap the cartridge connections, and short circuit a pin on the Game Gear that tells it to go into Master System mode. Unless it's visibly broken, I'm sure it'll work.

its hard to say, Game Gears arent terribly expensive, but with all of those games, it should be worth something to some collector. If i were to put it up on ebay, id start the bidding at 100, with a BIN around 200

Depends on your GameGear. Later models of GameGear didn't have the Master System pin, so the converter did nothing in them. I've heard various methods of determining which model of GG you have, from turning the contrast all the way down to see if the screen goes dark blue or black, to something to do with the colour of the GameGear logo or somesuch. Either way though if it's coming with the lot it was used in, chances are it's bound to work.

I've heard this as well too, but I bought a Majesco-made Game Gear 2 years ago, new in box from Toys R Us (believe it or not). It doesn't have any problem at all with the Master Gear converter.

I think you're thinking of the TV Tuner... Doing Master System games isn't some emulation thing like the PS2 playing PSX games or something... the Game Gear essentially IS a Master System. I'm not exactly sure what gets swapped around inside the Game Gear, but I suspect it's something simple like remapping some memory areas or something. Removing this functionality might not even be possible without breaking compatibility with genuine Game Gear games. From what I know, ALL Game Gears are compatible with the Master Gear Converter.

The TV Tuner is a seperate story... Sega had a deal with some company to make them (I don't know the company's name). Somehow, the deal went sour, and Sega wanted them to stop, but they kept making them. Sega didn't have any legal recourse to stop them, so they changed their design so that the Game Gear wouldn't work with the TV Tuner anymore.

According to a FAQ I found:

"You can see if you GG supports th TV Tuner by checking the models number. Does the number STARTS with a letter, then your GG NOT support the TV Tuner."

I think they mean the serial number rather than the model number.
