Does anyone know anything about the Panasonic Tournament 2000? It was a pre-2600 home video game in the Pong vein. It had two slider-type controllers that were connected to the console by flimsy green wires and which were grooved so they could slide into place on the console for storage (and to be used that way, if you wanted).

The unit had about 7 different games... soccer, squash, tennis, etc. All of which were like the game variations in Video Olympics... just variations on the theme of Pong.

The unit had black-and-white display. It also had an RCA-type cable but it did NOT fit into the standard TV/Game switchbox (the pin in the center was too wide) so you had to use its own switchbox.

Long story short... we had this unit when I was a very young child. After I got my Atari VCS at age 8 in 1982, I happened upon this in its box in the basement closet. I got it out and played with it for a while. It was novel but naturally I eventually dismissed it, scoffing... "Video Olympics does everything this does, AND it's in color!"

It was thrown out or sold for $2 at a yard sale long ago I'm sure. I wish I had realized back then that it was worth preserving.

I have read lots of sites about old video game units (though my knowledge is still far from comprehensive), but I have NEVER seen anything online about this particular unit. Does anyone else remember it?

This is it. Apparently it is Unisonic, not Panasonic, but I would have SWORN it was Panasonic.

This site is great for this kind of stuff. I have e-mailed the guy with questions and he usually replies in less than an hour!
