easy answer- the 7800

why- all of the 2600 games and better arcade ports than the 5200

besides that it takes up much less space and offers better controller options.

in 5200 collecting you'll have a much harder and more expensive time building your collection past the commons, there arent that many titles to begin with. still though if this is one of those "which should i get" questions i'd say get the 7800 first and then save up for the 5200 with a trackball!

Try them all by emulator and see what you personally prefer.

7800

Pros: [list]

5200

2600

Pros: [list]
Cons: [list]

If possible, I'd say get the 7800. However, it really doesn't have a lot of advantages over the 2600, so if you don't plan on getting any of the 7800's games, then it might be easier to just stick with the 2600. The fact that you'd be limited to 2600 games is really the only downside I can think of when it comes to the 2600...
