Just out of curiosity, what is everyones favorite joystick for each system? For me it's simple because I almost always use the standard stick.

2600: Gemstick

I don't know why, but I love these cheap sticks. Maybe it's the large fire button?

5200 - Standard 5200 (CX-52)

I know everyone says they hate them, but I love the standard 5200 stick.

7800 - Atari "NES" style control pad

I can't stand the normal "Painline" joystick.

400/800/XL/XE - Gemstick

Gotta go with the Gemstick again for the same reasons. However I did have one rip out of the socket when playing Popeye once.

The Wico "Boss" will always be my stick of choice to use with all Atari systems. I also love the Wico stick with the ball on the top, but can't remember the name of that at the moment.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes the 5200 stick but hates the 7800 one. People bitch and moan about the 5200 stick but never say anything about the 7800 hand-killer. I hate this stick and is the reason I never use my 7800. I have to get a 7800 pad one of these days.

Tac-2 !

The best ever made if you ask me. You have to open it up every six months or so to clean that brass-thinge under the button though. :)

2600 - CX-40 but for some games a Wico Boss.

5200 - Stock sticks but not if I win the Remption contest :D The only thing I really don't like about the 5200 sticks are the mushy unresponsive firebuttons. The centering thing isn't a big deal to me.

7800- Don't have yet, but I 've used the Prolines-they suck.

Colecovision-Superaction Sticks - My favorite controller of all time. A cleaned and calibrated one is a joy to behold.

C64 - Wico CV sticks but only because I have extras

For my 26 / 78 / 600XL / 1040 STFM, it's always the Mindscape Powerplayer!

Yeah this annoys me too. I heard someone placed microswitches under each of the buttons and it works great. However I've never been able to find someone who is willing to do that for me.

CX-40. No comparison. It's the comfiest, and I get higher scores with that stick than any other. The fire-button response is quick and nifty, allowing me to score into the 100,000s in Empire Strikes Back among other games that favor a fast thumb. :)

Least favorite: Anything you have to grip like a throttle, with the fire button on top. :x

I'm very fond of the TAC-2 myself! Partly because I grew up on 5200 and found the CX-40 a bit odd with a left-hand fire button.
I like 5200 sticks as well, never had problems out of them, but yeah the fire buttons are a little mush at times. Only recently picked up the 7800 pads they are pretty neat. don't really care for any of the other classic sticks, but I never tried the Super Action controllers I hear they are pretty decent.

I love my TAC-2 controller. My other favorite controller is the EPYX-XJ or something like that for the 2600. (even though it makes the annoying 'click' noise every time you move the joystick)

Slik Stik was a cool joystick but not the best.

Competition pro + the Zipstik are the best (virtually the same thing)

I hate joysticks, and the vast majority of "arcade" stucks for home consoles, because they SUCK. They have small bases, so you have to fight against your left hand to keep from fucking up while pressing buttons with your right!
