Just got my first 5200 Wico Keypad in the other day, and half the keys don't work.

The entire run going down the left side and across the bottom, including the * & # are dead. Makes it a little difficult to set the options in game.

Anyone ever have any problems with these like this? I cracked it open, just to look at what I'm dealing with , and the keypad is on a little pcb, it has some smaller screws on it, they actually look like they have been opened before, a few look nearly stripped. Makes me wonder if the guy selling this was lying to me, as he claimed it worked. :x

Anyone know if this could be an easy fix? I've already tried spraying contact cleaner in the buttons and working it in, was not sure that would help anything or not, just tried it, but they still do not respond. I'm wondering, if even I could re-arange the wires going into it, so that maybe my 8 & 9 could work as * & # At least then I would be able to play the majority of games trouble free. :ponder:

Oh man, that sucks. :( :x

I am not sure if they can be repaired but I can give it a shot, send it along next time we exchange packages and I'll take a look at it. :)

Sounds like perhaps you have a short (or 2) in the cable? Can you check continuity with a multimeter? Without any schematics floating around, you just have to try each combo hit or miss.

I agree, it's most likely a short in the cable.

I have two Wico keypads and they were both only semi-functional when I got them. One had a bad cable and the other a cracked circuit board.
