Yeah, if I remember right, David Jones, the guy who programmed Blood Money (and Menace & Awesome??), went on to found a little known company called Rockstar Games and made a little money with something called Grand Theft Auto or something.. ;)

Apparently, he also wrote this little thing called Lemmings..

And then Final Fantasy VII, Ultima Online: Lord Blackthorne's Revenge, and Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided.

Among I'm sure other games...

He's up there with David Crane, Paul Norman, Jordan Mechner, etc in my opinion. Cutting Egde, Creative, and Successful..

(Dang, I'd be psyched if I worked on any ONE of those, and that guy did (well, at least the early games he DID, who knows if he wrote any code for the later games??) ALL of them. )

I was just browsing and had one of those "Duh, Of course!!!" moments!!

I was reading Atari newsgroup stuff and browsing off of those, and saw something on the 2600 version of Vanguard.

Caught my eye, cuz I loved that game in the Arcades..

Then I started reading about the scrolling, and I thought, "Yeah, it's vertical AND horizontal, but you don't control it, it just keeps moving"... and..

then I realized why I liked Blood Money so much. I never made the connection before.. Duh.. Blood Money is just a prettier Vanguard... Yeah, you only shoot forward.. at first!!! But after you do some Blood Money shopping, you have Vanguard!!!

Of course, everyone else is going, "Of course it is, it's obvious" but for some reason, I never noticed it before....

Oh well... 2 of my favorite games, and now I know why..
