Hi everyone. I want to hook up my 2600 to my new TV. I know I could do it with the good old tv/console RF switch and RF adapter, but is there a hardware unit to use the video in plugs instead of the coaxial cable adapter?? thanks!

yes, exactly. see, i knew i'd get a fast response on atariage.

but $45 for it?? geez. maybe i'll stick with the old tv/console switch.

any thoughts on this issue guys? what do atari agers use?

If you don't want to spend the money on that little box, a second vcr hooked up will do the same exact thing. I use a second vcr and have the coaxial atari going in to it and then there are video/audio outs to hook to the other vcr that I use normally. Then all you have to do is put it on channel F-1 (on mine, Aux on others) and no need to get up to switch the tv box. I have a 75 ohm coaxial switch for switching between the atari systems that I have hooked up.

I can also video tape my games really easy to send into Twin Galaxies. And it doesnt cost anything, except a little more space than that little demodulator.

i also found an 'rf modulator' at radio shack, although i'm not sure if it's bi-directional.

well, maybe i can find an engineering friend to solder one up for me...

You can also modify the Atari to output composite video and audio. There are several different mods floating around on the 'net, ranging from crudely tieing a bunch of signals together (not good) to a very nice circuit with a CD4050. Check the FAQ for more information. Also, there are several running threads here on AtariAge.

I dont think i will mod my current playing Atari, I'ce had it for four years and i just wouldn't want to risk sodiering in a AV out thingy. But if i get anotehr one cheap i'll think about it
