Does anyone have any advice on how to install a power LED mod for the 2600?

Also, are there any gotchas in replacing the switches? Do the switches have to have a particular voltage rating on them?

If you use a LED that is rated at 5V, you can hook it up directly to the 7805 voltage regulator.

I am not sure if the switches have ratings, do you have a broken switch or something ? I have a bag full of replacement switches (NOS), if you're interested.

Switches shouldn't be an issue. Most likely there are dirty contact, get a contact cleaner. Atari doesn't take much power (5v DC, couple hundred mA) so any switch you find from your local radio shop will work.

Here is an example of a power LED I added to a unit a long time ago. :)

Nice. I'm about to put a blue LED in the 7800 I presently have open (I already replaced the broken voltage regulator and added an additional power jack (I left the 7800 one alone)).. :)
