I happened to be browsing around in the video shop. I was returning my Master System to be replaced with another unit and I noticed the Saturn sitting on the top shelf. It said $34.95 on it and had 4 games in CD sleeves. So, I bought the unit.

The games that were included are:

Nights
Virtua Fighter 2
Daytona USA
Virtua Cop

I also picked up 2 other games in the hard cases:

Revolution X
Robotica

I think it was a good deal so far. I'm currently playing Daytona USA.

What does anyone think? It's a better deal than the Saturn they had a few months ago that they wanted $59.95 for.

I'm so happy to be blessed with Sega goodness. I've also got a working Master System to play around with. :D :D

A Saturn with four games for $35 is a good deal. And those four games you got are four of the most popular and soild games for the system.

Good pickup, I just got Mr. Bones and Bottom of the Ninth in the mail yesterday for the Saturn, can't wait to try them out tonight, I love getting new games for this system because I just got it last year myself after ignoring it for a decade :D

welcome to the next level :)

you got a good deal for that price, nights is probably the best game among the pack ins.

you may need to change the watch battery inside to ensure that you do not lose your game saves

Well I'm surprised. I used to subscribe to Sega Visions and I still have a video that they sent back in '95 to promote the Saturn. Playing the system now, I feel that it's a fun system that never got enough respect.

I'm going to play the rest of the games.

The Nights game says Sampler on the cover of the cardboard sleeve. Does this mean that it's a demo?

I also got a disc called the Bootleg Demo or something like that. It has demos of Saturn games and videos as well.

I can get 3 more Saturn games at the same place..Myst and 2 others. I might do that soon.

If you look around eBay you should be able to get Nights new in a big box with the 3D controller for $10-12 bux. There's a lot of NOS of this game out there and with the controller it's a good deal.

I like the game but I have no idea how to play it...LOL.

But it's beautifully rendered and seeing how it's from Sonic Team, I knew it was going to be good.

I'm surprised at how close to the arcade versions that Daytona USA and Virtua Cop are. Is there a light gun for Virtua Cop though?

Can anyone point me to a good resource site for the Saturn?

yes there is, actually, i found a third party light gun from nyko that has connectors for both playstation and saturn

daytona is an obvious first gen effort though. the cars are well done, but the backgrounds are really bad with the pop up. cant beat the cheeseball music though :D

So is there a reference site for the Saturn? I was wondering so I could check out the kinds of games that are available besides the ones I already have.

The Saturn version of Daytona is kinda ugly but it plays perfectly... the control is spot on, even though it is only configured for digital controls. I wish the DC version had the original music as the default music... (I think I remember some of it being in the sound test mode...)

Sega Rally is also awesome on the Saturn. Game Over, Yeah!

There is a good Sega site at:

Sega Xtreme

What is the port on the front of my Saturn for? It's marked "cartridge input". Was this meant for memory saving purposes?

Thanks for the link to the site.

Thanks for the link to the site.

There are backup memory carts, RAM carts, cheat carts and import enabling carts.

There are also carts which do all of the above...

I don't know. I'm disappointed with both Double Dragon and Rocky. DD seems so damn hard but it also looks closer to the arcade version. I actually like the 7800 and NES versions better.

Someday, I'm gonna look into getting the following for the Saturn:

Sonic R
WWF Wrestlemania Arcade Game (cuz I love wrestling games..no matter how bad)
Duke Nukem 3D
Quake
Sim City 2000

And whatever else is recommended.

rocky is pretty lame,

everything about the game is pretty nice looking... with the exception of the main gameplay screen, go figure

double dragon is pretty cool, yeah there is some flicker, but its a fun time, when you get to stage 4, stand still at the beginning and jump kick 30 times or so. if you do, then you will get infinate continues for the rest of the game.

keep your eyes open for Alex Kidd in Miracle World for you SMS :)

I noticed the flicker and I thought that there wasn't supposed to be any? :?

I've played Alex Kidd in the past and I might do so again.

I've also got Rampage CIB coming soon for the SMS. Hopefully, it won't be disappointing.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Saturn, probably the best (and most underrated) of the 32bit CD systems. I didn't remember ports on the front, but I have a big ass cart that goes in the top for saving games.

I liked Clockwork Knight (a 2d sidescroller, made with 3D elements) And SCUD, the Disposable Assasan, which supposedly uses a light gun as well as pad controller, but I've not seen one around here, so I can't say.

Hey, sometime, when your bored, pop in a music CD and play with the CD program. It's got some cool stuff that only Saturn did. I especially like being able to change the pitch of voices, and it doesn't change speed, not really useful, but cool none the less.

I've always thought about getting a Saturn, mainly because I liked the Scud: Disposable Assassin comic book, and the Scud game only came out for Saturn.

I'm playing a CD by the band AUNTIE CHRIST just to see how it runs on the Saturn. I think the PS1 had a more impressive display for CDs.

The Saturn is an awesome machine for the price! I have one with just over eighty games, and it's barely cost anything!!
I fluked out , and received all of the working design games for free with the system. That saved some dollars.

Here is some recommendations of CHEAP games:

1. Daytona
2. Daytona CE (VERY different, but also good..just not similiar)
3. PTO II
4. Earthworm JIM 2
5. Sonic 3-d
6. hyper 3-d pinball
7. nights
8. fighters megamix
9 Virtua Fighter 2
10. Virtua cop
11. Sega Rally
12. Panzer Dragoon II

Here is some more expensive recommendations:

1. Dragon Force
2. Iron Storm
3. Albert Odyssey
4. Legend of Oasis

You will need a ram cart for the RPG's.

Whomever mentioned changing the CR battery in the thing makes a great point. You should do it now, or risk losing info at an inopportune time. I have two units , both that have lost their internal batteries this year..... Perhaps the CR batteries that were stock are all starting to die now.

5. Panzer Dragoon Saga
