Has anyone attempted to make one of these? I'd love to have "Gyruss", "Toki", and "Defender" all on one cart.

It'd be a great project for someone with the ability to do so if it hasn't been done. There are a lot of excellent C64 and Vic-20 games out there.

Wouldn't it be a lot easier and cheaper to just stick them all on a disk? You'd be stuck with load times of course, but any C64 fan should be used to that by now.

Rational explanation:

Yes, but you'd have to agree that floppies are a bit more fragile than carts. About half of my FD are no longer usable due to age-related decay, but I've only lost 2 cartridges (so far) to wear-and-tear.

Real explanation:

I want to impress the local folks at an upcoming meeting of the Calgary Commodore club. :D

Oh yes it has been done 8)

Nick Coplin, who also does the 64HDD project, put together a test 1Meg cart (with room for up to sixty four 16k ROMs) some time ago. He also "commercially" produced a couple for sale, one of which was to me.

So I have access to quite a lot of the old school C64 carts on one chip, without having to wear and tear my originals, some of which are quite rare.

Can't remember the exact inventory, but most/all of the Atari/Parker Bros/Activision/HES/Roklan/Sierra games are on there.

Oooh! Is there any chance of getting some contact info? Maybe he has one or two left...just hanging around, you know. ;)

He made mine to order (as I also specified the 63 games I wanted to put on there) so I'm guessing he would probably have to do the same. I believe he would be asking in the region of $60 for the cart, which is less than $1 per game, and you'd have a whole range of games to choose from if you wanted to pick your own selection.

I'll go dig the email address I used to contact him for it...
