I was watching tron the other day. I remember when it came out my friend was like "man I wish we had games like THAT" during the scene where Flynn is playing the recognizer shooter game. If we had seen halo back then we would have had a heart attack.

Yeah, when I was a kid, we never imagined games would look like they do. As a kid, I always thought laserdisc games would be the common thing so I was expecting everything to look like Dragon's Lair and Firefox. I'm glad I was wrong.
I was telling this to my 14 and 17 year old nephews as they tried Kaboom for the first time on Thanksgiving. They really liked Kaboom but didn't know what a Laserdisc was. I said it was like a bid DVD and just let it drop.
I'm getting them both Activision Anthology for the PS2 to give them some much needed education.

Nothing wrong with laser disc games. Just all wrong for the time. Price of the cab, price of the game, and besides dragon layer. That was about it. I only played that one the most. The other one I just ignored. Remeber the cartoon? lol

The biggest problem LD games had was that they didn't have semiconductor lasers yet, so they used a gas-based laser tube that went bad after every few months of operation.

Nah...I don't believe that wireframe holographics are that far off. Fully interactive holograms are tho.
