Whats the state of arcades in Asia, Europe or Australia? We all know that
the American scene is stale and dying. Vancouver is a very multi cultural
city with a lot of Asian immigrants. They make up the biggest number
of arcade goers around here. Amazingly many of them are women and
they seem to be enjoying themselves! :o :lolblue: So I'm assuming
that over there arcades are doing a little better.

I used to follow the Neo Geo scene quite actively a few years ago and I do remember that Japanese arcades always seemed to thrive in comparision to the US scene. They seem to get the new releases and competition is fierce. I guess the Asian culture is more accepting when it comes to gaming, whereas in the US gaming is still considered a "geeky" activity, thus the arcade scene reflects this somewhat.

Iīm from Spain and the arcade scene is virtually dead. In my town there is only 1 arcade room left, with a few arcade games, only a pinball(Star Wars episode 1) and cabinets with Mame installed!!. And there is a Sega Park with abusive prices (1 euro 1 credit). Arcade roms are dead here. There are instead many cybercafes with pc games on line, but I donīt like it. Ahhh, I remember the good times at arcades ...
