so there it is .... for the amazing price of only 7 euros (lets say 10$):

sold as "not reacting when plugged in". been hunting those tables for years and finally got one bundled with cheap shipping.

looks like it might work with a little work, but i would probably prefer to make it a "mame-table". i have so far a mainboard for a P4 chip, a dvd-rom-drive and a harddisc (everything under 5$). what else do i need besides a keyboard, the p4-chip and some rom?

so far, i planned to have a little extra panel with usb connection (for mouse/keyboard/extra joysticks), sound controls, video out (to use CD/DVD-Rom for dvd and mp3 on a TV) and a power switch. everything will be low budjet and made from old spare parts i can grab cheap on ebay ...

should i leave the monitor inside ans mess around with the connections, or should i switch with a used computer monitor?

should i leave the panel with a single joystick and add extra pads via usb? or should i modify the panel to be able to have more controls (more fire buttons, etc ...)?

i think i heard about a MP3-player that can be controlled over the joystick in a mame cabinet? does anyone remember about that?

The track and feild cocktail table I bought was $25 because it would'nt come on when plugged in and all it was was a contact on the plug inside the cabinet was pulled off all I had to do was put it back on and it works like the day it was new so it could be a simple fix like that

Wow that is a fantastic score.

I would agree with fully checking out the plug and other obvious
problems before commiting to mame it.

First try to fix it. Games that 'dont come on' are either easy fixes or burnt out totally. Start of with the cord and fuses, then move on to the power supply. If that is OK, then the monitor should be able to work.

If it does work, then you can check the monitor and decide then whether to use it or not. I'm personally in favor of using the original screen (if it's not burnt in or anything), because it feels more like the real thing.

It's also more difficult to get to work with a PC, but there is plenty of documentation about it.

hahaha ....

i just spent hours with cleaning the table, scraping off dirt, getting tons of dust out the cabinet, changing one fuse, cleaning a few contacts and re-plugging one loose plug. and with one click .... it worked!!!!

on the other side, i'm quite a bid sad i don't make a MAME table now

it's getting interesting. the little metal plate is completely in japanese but has a model (001) and serial numer (047).

does anyone know when and how much cocktail tables were made by universal? and how the company has numbered tables?

i might have grabbed one of their first tables

Wonderfull, a complete working game for 7 euro's and some time

Wish i could get one of those...

And it's still usable for Mame, if you use a arcadeVGA like videocard and just make a conversion harness between the game and Mame.
