Did anyone happen to watch the G4 TV Icons mini-marathon Sunday? They showed like 4 episodes in a row and I happened to tune in and caught the one on Video Game Crash but missed the one on Atari.

I really enjoyed the Crash episode; they interviewed a lot of people including Gary Kitchen and Nolan Busnell plus showed TV ad's and many other great features. Really interesting hearing the thoughts of the game creators on the crash and the games that were coming out at the time.

Nice program!

I'm pretty sure I saw Mr. Warshaw at least once during that episode, if not several times during the "Filter" I saw tonight too, which looks for all the world like it was shot at the CGExpo.

Yeah, Howard was in the Crash episode alot; talked at length about E.T. and how it will be forever blamed for causing the crash. Very interesting interview. The talk on 2600 Pac-Man was very interesting also.

I've offered the Icons episodes on Atari, Activision, Arcades, and The Crash on these forums a couple of times (AVI format, ripped by my pal Zlorfik). No one ever seems to take me up on it though, so I eventually just took 'em off :P

Incidentally Howard is on another episode of Icons... the one about music. He sings a song while the credits roll! (or at least it definitely sounds like him)

Hey. If they will work on my Mac, I'll gladly take the offer. Sounds like a great show, and damn it if we only have one TV with it on and that's too much of a bother to bother.

Yeah I saw all of them. I've seen the one on the crash literally like five times. The one on Atari and the Aracdes were very interesting though. Also, you should look into the Icons of Computers. It's good as well.

Most of the stuff used in the episodes they showed Sunday:
201 Atari
214 The Crash

was all interview stuff done at CGE2002 (along with the HSW/Jay Smith doing funky dances in the 'Know Your History' bumpters).

The Filter 'Greatest Old School Console Games' episode host segments were shot at CGE2003.

There are posted occasionally to usenet, and if you can grab them you could make a VCD out of it.

BTW, did anyone happen to download the crash episode - I still haven't see that one yet!

Ahh, that would explain why the Atari/Crash segments looked crowded (and I remember it being that way too) and why the Filter segment looked like Mizota was standing in an empty arcade. :D Poor Diane! I wish I had been there to give her a big hug and say I  Filter, and that she should be on G4TV.com instead of the annoying guy who hosts now (plus it would give the show a whole Charlie's Angels angle I'd love).

G4TV.com is an extension of the old 'Game Time' net talk show that was part of the old Pseudo.com which Scot hosted.

and actually it would depend on the day, filming on sunday would have revealed a smaller crowd in 2002 as well (like when G4tv.com filmed segments there Sunday in 2002 - I got to hang with Thug n T-dub ;)...

True, in 2K2 I was dissapointed how many sellers packed it in early on Sunday, though I found later this was the norm for cons with Sunday sales after I had been to more than a few.

Call me nuts, but I'm dying to give Thug a hug. In fact, I'd like to make like John Cena and show her some basic Thugganomics. :D

Rumor has it that Britney is having her next wedding on Blister (with Madonna as Best Grandma) so I guess when she does, Diane and Thug will have to settle for #3 & #4.

j/k :D
