http://www.geocities...appy_dude_2600/

Well I had an account at geocities that wasn't doing anything so I thought
I'd make a NES homebrew site :D

All my reveiws to date are up. If you want to add your own reveiw you can
PM me here or contact me via email ( happy_dude {at} bocnet.com.au )

There is also "TheCode Vault" where I'll be posting helpful source code
snippits. Mainly written in DASM and using my NES.h naming conventions.
I'm also working on a program template at the moment. :)

I'll be uploading a whole bunch of technical documentation somtime this week
It's all in a single DOC folder so I'll have to organise it first.

And somtime in the near future I'll get my hands on an EPROM burner and
a nice digital camera and then I'll post a section on making DevCarts.

if anyone wants to host this little project or contribute in any way fell free to contact me :) (geoshities is teh suck)

Theres some more tech docs and the source code for BoxBoy.

Bratwurst has expressed an interest in contributing (and I would have asked him sooner or later anyway ;) )
So look forward to a few articles on making carts and modifying your NES :D

I just added "the mail room".
It is going to be a plain text archive of the NESdev mailing list.
As it stands the list is hosted at Yahoo groups and you need to be a member
to read the archives. Well I'm going to be copying the whole damn thing into plain text
because it's a real pain having to click through all those advertisments ;)

The first 100 messages are up now. there are over 3000 in the archive ..... this could take awhile.

Theres been a compleate site re-design
The reveiws look a lot nicer with screenshots :)
Some other minor stuff has been changed too (doner carts, Homebrew list)

Posting 3 in a row in my own thread feels a little to much like spam for comfort.
So this is the last post ..... I promise :D

Glad to see that there's some interest in NES homebrewing. It's never too early to create homebrews for an awesome system like the NES.

IMHO one of the things NES homebrewers need to do is to write code which doesn't require complex mappers. Sure MMC3 & MMC5 have some neat capabilities, but then you are limitting yourself to emulators or canibalizing specific carts.

If an NES homebrew uses an LS161 style mapper (i.e. one which can be created with off the shelf TTL logic or simple PLAs), or even no mapper at all, then it is at least feasible to manufacture the cartridges inexpensively. (Yes, the NES has a lockout chip, but defeating it is an easy mod.)

Never tried it.
I steer clear of high level languages, I like having total control of my code ;)
