Welcome,
Some of you may know the Polish FTP atari archive:
ftp://ftp.atari.art.pl
We are doing our best to make it a central archive of atari-related materials in Poland
and in the World. For now on, it's one of the biggest (if not the biggest) FTP server
dedicated to Atari.
We offer over 41GB of atari and 'nostalgia' stuff including:
- Official mirror of Fading Twilight and NoFragments.
(we get the stuff first, even before it reaches the mothership www site - thanks to
good personal relations with LotekStyle (aka McLaser)
- ASMA mirror, mods and mp3 from nectarine radio atari uploads
- Photos and videos from almost every major Polish and some foreign copy-parties.
- demos, copyparty compo entries, Nir Dary's CD collection
- main distro of Atari Forever collection
- chiptunes.org and remix.kwed.org mirrors (over 5GB classic gamemusic conversions)
- ftp.klosz.art.pl mirror - (polish demoscene archive)
- the whole High Voltage Sid Collection
- CAS archive (collection of CAS images)
- Falcon Demo mania collection
- Mp3 musicdisks from MadMax, Greg, Xtd, et al
- ST mod archive
(NOTE: all material is copyright free - i.e it's either freeware, or non-commercial
and as such can be distributed - these are not RIAA mp3s folks. It's free art
and is hosted completely for free -i.e we do not get paid for doing this nor is anyone paid for hosting the material)
However we are facing a serious problem - the server is hosted at a university.
I.e we share resources with uni. That should be no problem but it is.
The server is going to be shut down if we do not have a new server. The university
ceased to support the hardware. They want to take the machine down for academic
purposes. We want to make a dedicated server for FTP.ATARI.ART.PL only.
Unfortunately, we lack hardware support. We have written letters to atari.com, HP, sun,
anywhere. They seem not to be interested in endorsing hardware.
That's why we call all atari fans and enthusiast all over the world.
If you want the server to grow and shine - we need support. We lack hardware.
The internet connection is not a problem - we have a good university backbone, but
as mentioned, the server is going bye bye in the near future and we want to host in on a
separate 'own' machine.
If someone can in any way help us or support us - please write to:
azbest [at] pigwa (dot) net or mikey [at] scene (dot) pl
The similar topic is posted on AtariArea in Poland, we already got some voices of help.
In case of any potential supporter, we offer a little adv-space [not commercial though]
Something like "Site sponsored by: logo and name" All support will be documented
and presented on a special page.
Thanks in advance for any support.
Peace,
Signed: Atari FTP admins.
