Hey all,
I'm brand new, so sorry if this has been asked and answered (actually, I saw it asked, but never answered).
Does anyone know if there are any plans to release an Anthology 2 for the PS2? I saw the list of games that are on the Mac/PC version, and man-oh-man would I LOVE to have some of those for the PS2. Riddle of the Sphinx and Dragonfire come to mind, but there were a lot of others, too...
Anyway, I'd love to know. If one isn't in the works, does anyone know to whom we could express our desire for such a collection?
Thanks!
-Chad

I think it would be difficult to do another Activision Anthology because they got the most popular ones put into the first. I think it would be better to call it Activision Anthology v1.5

What games could be included on a second one? Are there enough to warrant a sequel??

My point exactly. They did quite a few games the first time and while there are still some games that were probably left out, I would tend to think that it would be small. The best way I guess would be to look up Activision on this site and then print out the list, scratching out the games that were released.

Ooooo That poses an interesting question. If they released a Activison Anthology 1.5 with mostly the same games (maybe a few new ones), but with online capabilities... Would you buy it? or should I say...re-buy it?

Well, let's see... They could include ALL of the Imagic titles... And the batch of homebrews they licensed. And maybe some Intellivision stuff, 5200, etc.?

Yeah, I'm mainly interested in all of the Imagic titles. Heck, call it "Imagic Anthology," just include the remaining Imagic games, put it at a lower price point, and I'm there. I don't even care if they recycle the same 80's tunes and the front end from the first one. I just want my Imagic games!

OK why dont they just include EVERY KNOWN atari game, hack, homebrew
and prototype ever made including more new games and hacks
And possibly an online play function but i dont think that it should be neccessary
to unlock every thing
yeah that a point why not make half the games hidden and you unlock one
when you get a certain score on certain games it would definately warrant the price!

Certainly another anthology of sorts would be good. I'm not to sure another activision one would be in order, an imagic anthology sounds alright (even though I have only ever played one on my atari).
I would like to see some of the original games like combat and some of the arcade conversions like missle command, asteroids and such. maybe call it Atari Anthology.
However, I have the impression the Activision Anthology didn't sell to well, because I bought mine 2nd hand for $16 (here in Aus a 2nd hand PS2 game is normally $40). I guess mainstream gamers arent interested in classics

Here's an idea. What about trade-in? A special rebate offered to those who have previously purchased "Activision Anthology", maybe $10 off? Send in the old copy and a check for the balance, then let them send the new vesrsion with all the extra games, online feature, and new unlockables?
And for those that haven't purchased "Activision Anthology" before, then you have the definitive version right out of the starting gate.
Sounds good... very good, no? But lets not go putting the cart before the horse. It's Activisions decision whether or not we get a new edition. So the ball is in their court.

I think we got our messages crossed.
I didn't mean for Activision to modify currently existing carts... but I was talking about the PS2 version anyway.
All I meant was that you could turn in your old version of Activision Anthology for a $10 rebate cupon for the new edition. Or send in your old copy of A.A., along with a check for the new version minus $10, and let them send a copy of the new version. No modification necessary. Just simply trading the old in for the new.
Since they're not modifying any old software, there's no need to rebox and reship anything. They'd just be selling you a new copy of what they developed, and you'd be trading in your old version for a little bit off the cover price. That's all.

Well, the PSP version is in development, and it'll probably be the only reason to buy that future white elephant . . .
I know it'll include some different HB stuff, as per Ken Love's post (Hhhhmmm . . . Maybe the XYPE stuff, Qb, or Homestar RPG?), and probably some Imagic stuff . . .
We don't need the unfinished protos.
Although Kabobber and Thwocker are pretty damn cool, they don't really have the nostalgia factor, since they were never released either.
Space Treat is the only HB in the current set I care for all that much, actually.
Heck, are Laser Blast, Bridge, and Checkers all that necessary?
What I would include:
The original titles that I didn't suggest dropping above.
Qb, Thrust, Gunfight, Jammed, Laserresal, and Homestar Runner RPG.
The Salu puzzle games.
Heck, maybe they could swing a deal with whoever owns the rights to the Epyx stuff and put the "Games" games, Mindmaster, CMFOS, and Dragonstomper on it.
And finally, convince whichever Kitchen owns the Keystone Kapers II proto to let it be on there.
Or just do a 5200/CV/C64 compo with Zenji, Dreadnaught Factor, Rock 'n Bolt, LCP, Master of the Lamps, etc . . .
I'd buy that. I wouldn't buy one just to play the old games online, since there aren't many simultaneous two-player Acti games that'd be fun, besides Boxing and Ice Hockey.

I dont agree with the "Not fun online" statement.
I envision a version of Keystone Kapers where both players appear on the screen at the same time. It would be a race to capture the crook and obviously who-ever nabs him first will get the higher points . Sounds fun to me.
Or how bout same format but Megamania, both people onscreen at once trying to destroy as many ememy as they can before the other player does. You work together to clear the screen, but against each other trying to rack up points.
