I'm going to ask my Girlfriend to Marry me
. But I want to do it in a way that is uniquely me. So..... Is it possible to hack a game, say, Galaxian or Pheonix so that after you beat the first or second wave it says "Will you marry me (Name)?" ? I would need this on a cart so I can supprise her while she's playing. This is probably not possible, ( or its extremely expensive), but I figured if anyone could help me out you guys could. PM me or post a reply if you have any ideas.

What a cool idea, I am sure someone will help you with that.

That is extremely cool. I suspect a few homebrewers will be discussing this very soon.

Are you kidding? Every AA member who gets married from here on out will want to order a custom-made Proposal Cartridge!
Something new for the AA store?

I suggest the game, Fast Food, Since there is text that appears after waves in that game already that would be probably easy to modify.
Check out the Fat Albert hack..

You can use John Harvey's Post it note cart. You would have to have someone put the text in and then burn a cart for you.

I think an Activision game would be easier to hack like that.

It should be pretty easy to implement in any game. It could also be score based, reach a certain score and the game stops and the message is printed on screen. In Galaxian for example you could even have the game continue with the message appearing on-screen. Ms Pac-Man, Frogger, etc.....

Any 2K game would be an easy hack as well since you essentially have 2K to work with.
Cheers!

It would be so cool imagine the shock on your girlfriends face when she reads the message!

Didn't someone actually do this once?
Fast Food is the obvious candidate since it has that lone graphic on a black screen between levels . . . But what about hacking the Adventure Easter Egg? That would be cool . . .

Will you Marry Me,
(Name)?
easily. Now I need to know where that copyright and Activision logo is contained in the BIN
*Edit* How would you enable logo/copyright scrolling throughout the game?

With my current situation, I was thinking, maybe someone could also make a cart that comes up with the message:
'I want a divorce you spiteful gold digging little cow'
or something to that effect............

well, couldnt you just put in the first part of the level, then display that? you really wouldnt NEED the rest of the game afterwords anyways.

Actually you could have any type of message! what about these ones!
"Hi Mom!" (Mum)
"Drink Orange Juice Every Day To Stay Healthy!"
"This Game Hack Was Brought To You By (Name)"
"Keep It Up!"
Any others?

Yes. It was on a NES cart thou, not Atari. I remember reading about it at DP some time ago.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. You put in the first level, she beats it, message displayed, end of game......Now, I just need sombody to actually do it since I have absolutely no programming skills at all. PM me if you are interested in helping, I'm not rich, but we can probably work out a deal.

Please let us know how the cart proposal goes.
What about a greeting cart similar to the AA Christmas cart as the wedding favor for the guests?
Congratulations!

Engrish 101: Base is always singular. There is no plural form.
