What is the point of a mame cabinet? Don't you have to own a copy of each game rom? I see cabs for sale with roms and rom disks. Not to mention the large number of mame projects, but how do they deal with actually getting the games?

I have all of the roms (well, mostly ~4000) and a mame cabinet would be very nice. Having both player joysticks set up with a trackball is 100 times better than using a ps2 controller like I am.

What's the point? I don't think I understand the question. My MAME cab is the coolest thing I own.

How do you legally get the game roms? I mean MAME is everywhere. Ive thought about making my own mame cabinet, but Im not sure where to get the ROMS legally if that is possible?

Legally? It will never happen. Will you be prosecuted for downloading them? Probably not.

Rather than downloading, you can obtain entire sets of Mame roms by mail...

Super Mappy is even located right in Ohio. So you can send him some blank CDR's and he'll fill them up for return postage cost.
