Im looking to get some used tokens (.882) for my new coin mechs. Where is the best place to get these? Used would be nice, but I see that Happ has a good price on new tokens. My coin door came from Canada and only accepts canadian $1 coins. I don't have to many of those at this point. If anyone would like them let me know.

They're offered for sale used all the time on the arcadecontrols.com message board buy/ sell/ trade forum. Post a wanted ad there and you'll probably get several offers the same day.

Thanks again for the help.

I got my coin door last weekend and everything is there. The lights are even there. No coin counter though. Its about as dirty as it could be. Ill get some better pictures and post them up. I also have some token mechs coming in the mail this week.

If you really think you need one I have a counter off a Midway door, you can have it if you want it. I have no idea how to wire it to work with a MAME setup though.

I don't think Im going to need it. I do know you can hook it into the I-PAC and it will work through MAME. Im not making a Mame cab though. Im working on something else.

Stingray, I noticed the link to your site in another thread. Nice work. Im always looking for more inspirational web pages. Though you might guess Im not a fan of the MAC. ;) Nice to see someone who took a differant approach though. Nice artwork and metal work too.

Well I know Macs and understand Macs so that's what I used. Once the games are running you can't tell what OS is lurking under the surface. Glad you enjoyed my site.

Untill something crashes.
MacBomb or BSOD, it's really clear which it is THEN.

This post has been brought to you by cynicism.

So I'm just curious, if you arent' doing a MAME system and you don't seem to be restoring a dedicated cab, what is it that you're building?

Im working on a dedicated 2600 cab. After the weekend I should have some build pics and descriptions up. Im currently in the build stages with the cabinet mostly built and the electrics are getting ironed out. Far from finished though. Still need to work out some artwork and get some more supplies. Ive come up with a few "neat" ideas. Ill get into them when I post some picts.

Jeepnut in case you haven't noticed, someone has made an offer to sell you some new tokens in your thread at arcadecontrols.com. Just FYI, I bought some coin door parts from him a couple months ago. He was quick to ship the parts out to me.

Thanks for the reminder. Its hard enough to follow one forum. :D I got my new mechs in, and they work fine. Shipping was a bit steep, but they look almost brand new. Got the coin door cleaned up pretty well too. Just have to paint it and install it. Unfortunately I built my cab out of 1/2" MDF so I have to find some t molding next.

http://www.t-molding.com has half inch, but only in black and white. I've ordered from them and have gotten very quick service.

I just recently caught a link to this place: http://208.245.181.3...derc?confc=TEES which seems to have t-molding in half inch in a variety of colors. I don't have any personal experience with them though.

Yeah, I noticed that second link over on BYOAC. Im looking at the "wood grain" for my project. I was hoping for orange though, but I guess red would work just as well. What were some of the original ATARI t-molding colors?

The only Atari machine that I've seen recently was Cyberball, which has black t-molding. The woodgrain would be great on a black cab if this is a 2600-only cab.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking too. Aluminum Might work too? The coin door is now shiny stainless. So Im thinking woodgrain would work well.

Woodgrain would be the best I think. Are you planning on getting a custom marquee?

Yeah, as soon as I design one. Same with the side art. I need to dig through all the clip art that is out there and work up something nice. The CP will be stained hardwood though. Cherry finished. Right now we are play testing. The Paddles work and the joysticks are setup for Omega race and regular. Going to wire Ports for 2 more paddles and keyboards. Might add them though. Also thinking about a trackball? Ive got a few ideas floating around that should make it pretty unique.

That new t-molding site only sells in lengths of 25, 250 and 2500 feet!!! Needless to say, I don't need 250 feet of woodgrain t-molding. I guess Im going to have to stick to plain old black since I can't find 1/2" orange. I did pick up the hardwood for the CP and the bezel material.

25 feet wouldn't be too excessive. That's how much I bought when I did mine and I've only got about 8 feet left over.

Unless what you're making is considerably smaller than a standard cab.

Well I only need about 5-8 feet of 3/4" black and about 25 feet of the 1/2" wood grain. The problem is, they only sell the woodgrain in lengths of 250' feet.

Im trying to figure out what to do about the 1/2" sides. I may try and add 1/4" plywood to the sides to end up with 3/4" and then get 3/4" orange and find some scrap 3/4" black for the CP??? Im past the point of caring about weight.

BTW, its a standard cab. Its based off the popular pattern on the web.

You could try what I did and just put 3/4" t-molding on the 1/2" sides and use a pair of long sharp scissors to trim off the excess. Open the scissors and hold one side flat against the wood, then just push it forward. Don't push down too much or you will scratch the surface. You can try putting a piece of paper between the scissors and the cab to help prevent scratching it. Try it on a scrap piece to get the technique down. It worked pretty well for me, hopefully it will work for you too.

Jeff
