I am a very sad man today, the Red Barron Arcade on Telegraph road in Taylor, MI closed down. The Red Barron was the last big arcade i used to go to all the time to play greats like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Elevator Action, Congo Bongo and many others as a kid. One time I was staying the night at my cousins house and we were playing some games at the Red barron arcade till about 11:00 at night, I was only 12 and I had just made the new high score on Congo Bongo when I turned around and saw my mother coming in the front door looking for us, she found out from another cousine of mine that we were not home in bed and she beat the shit out of us right there in the arcade, Oh yes, those were the good old days and now they are gone.

 :ponder:

I wish, they not only closed in one day with out any warning, they took out all 30 or so games in that same day, I did not even get a chance to see if they wanted to sell any of them. I have 1 wall in my basement with 8 outlet plugs and only 2 arcade games pluged in.

:( :x

What blows is that they had a Donkey Kong & Donkey Kong Jr both in great shape and boy are they hard to find with out having to pay $1000.00 and up for one.

Arcades are disappearing quickly. At least the classic video game arcades. Have you noticed that arcades that DO open up these days are 90% skill games (skiball, air hockey, basketball, etc.)? We just had a new "arcade" open up in the nearby mall and it's like that. Hardly any video games at all. The video games they do have are like $1 each.

Shoot, where's Centipede when you need it?

Petes has Centipede! :D

That sucks though. The already very few arcades that are left, and they dont need to be shut down. Oh well.

I know what you mean about the skill games. last "arcade" I was in had about a dozen skill cranes, whack-a-moles and the like. Only about half that many video games and of those none of them used joysticks. They were all car/jet ski/ motorcycle racing games. sad times.

The other day I stumbled across a crappy looking Ms. Pac Man in a pizza place and my wife had to drag me away from it after about a half hour.

Try contacting the owner. Maybe he has a few machines left or at the very least a sign or some other remembrance from the arcade you could get to remind you of your favorite arcade.

I went by just today but there was nothing left inside, no note on the door & the only sign they have on the outside is about 8 feet + 12 feet.

Take a panoramic picture of the outside, blow it up and frame it. I'm planning to do this for my favorite arcade which is also defunct.

My Aladdins Castle where I managed from 84-91 just closed its doors about a half a year ago too. It is a very sad thing.

You know what, that is a great idea, I will take a picture of it and hang it in my Atari room.
