Just wanted to pass this along to everyone...

Got a magazine in the mail called Brookstone (kinda like Sharper Image). They have full size coin-ops for $3000. They should be at their website too for anyone interested.

Isnt it cheaper (and, well, cooler) to have the actual 2 machines? I think it is...

I was just looking at the pictures on the online catalog. Those games look like the games that many gameroom stores are now selling where the coin door is actually painted on and the cabinet is smaller. They're not designed as actual money machines.

Oh, I'd be pissed if I spent 3 grand on a machine and the coin door was painted on!

Yeah im afraid they are just reproductions! On the site it says things like
NEW Defender!, When defender is not a new game which means NEW implies
to new model which is a repro!

If you are a collector forget these however if you just want the game then go
ahead :)

Even if you just want the game, you can get used fully restored versions of the real games for about half that much.

Neat to see they are selling so MANY now! Used to be just two :)

I frequently use these ads to show people the value of buying an appreciating classic versus the "hop on the bandwagon" new kids. You can buy restored originals for just about half of each. The overlays are not half as durable, cabinets are poorly designed (monitors are all just 'wrong' to me) microswitch joysticks, etc. just are not the real thing (although they are close).

The classics are a bit of maintenance, but well worth it in my opinion.

Try less than a third. Usually between $600-$1000 for the Defenders/Pacs/Centipede/Missile Commands, $200-$600 for Qix/Space Invaders. (at my lacal auctions)

I'd be pissed if I spent $3k on an arcade machine full stop. This is a case of more money than sense if ever I saw one.
