Ok, I saw an Arkanoid here (I cant find the thread, though I posted in it :ponder: ) that was in bar top form. How heavy are those, and is it possible that I can get the specs for one? (I am thinking of building my own, just a different game, like speed rumbler or something)

Excuse me, counter top games. And here is the link to the one with the arkanoid one. I am thinking of building my own with a different chip, is that possible? I also need the specs.

i've got an arkanoid II revenge of doh cocktail, its a conversion from a deluxe space invaders. i'm not sure about arkanoid I but II is a jamma game from romstar. i would think your best bet would be to get one of those cheesy cheap bartop trivia poker games and then do a conversion on it.

good choice for a home arcade machine, its simple and addictive enough for non gamers and its fun to play buzzed.

How much do cheesy cheap bartop trivia poker games cost? And can they be converted easily?

all depends on the model of course, in terms of price and conversion ease. what you do get is a monitor and a cab to start with. the best way to find these things is either to post in arcade newsgroup or look up coin-op/ amusement machines in the yellow pages. if you find a coin-op guy with a decent warehouse they often have lots of these older machines sitting around that you can get for less than $150, sometimes much less. the newer ones with touch screens and stuff arent what you want, look for the "poker/blackjack" or "sex trivia" machines. if you ask the dealer about "jamma" he should know, i'm not sure if many of these are jamma ready. my dad has four of em in his gameroom and i've been trying to get one off him for years, old dork still gets a kick out the sex trivia

i would bet money this game used to be a bartop poker/trivia

Yep, that Arkanoid is the kind I want, I want a different game though. Where would I get all the parts (like joysticks and buttons and stuff.)? The same place as the cabnets?

Also, what exactly do I say to the dealer? (like: I need a bartop game that uses Jamma boards. Or something like that.)
