That looks more like some sort of dev unit than a proto.

I think that's a dev unit. Proto generally don't need external cable to load programs. They generally use EPROM instead. But I could be wrong...

Are you sure that ribbon cable isn't just laying there? I don't see how this thing would even work. Interesting though, but I believe someone expecting a Dev Unit may be a little shocked that they are only getting a Lynx 1 in the mail for $50 + $90 shipping

It's actually a "HOWDY" unit from a LYNX HOWARD development system. The ribbon cables connect to the HOWARD unit. One cable supplies the signals for the LCD and the other to the buttons AND stereo output for the headphone jack. I won the previous auction for another unit below.

I knew what it was and was relieved when he misstitled it - makes it cheaper. :D
The LYNX dev manual I have has a very poorly readable schematic with the designers name - HOWARD DELMAN, which is most likely why it's nicknamed a 'HOWARD' unit :dunce: .

Luckily because I'm in the US it totaled just under $65 with shipping.
If you ask him for a quote on shipping before you bid it's typically substantially less. I think he gives worst case shipping in his auctions.

He was very reasonable when he gave me a second chance (actually third, but who's counting!) offer on this auction.
