[atari70s]

What games titles do we know ( like were in catalogs or in official lists. ) but we have yet to find a prototype of the game. besides the ones that surface without labels. what are some games that are known unreleased and we are hoping to find a prototype in the future.?

AFAIK, this is an urban myth originating from a misprint in some video game magazine in the 80s. The game that they were intending to talk about was the original "Mario Bros" that was, in fact, released fro the 7800.

I read on an Atari 2600 website about some company who had a catalog and planned to make a bunch of game show games for the VCS, such as: The Price is Right, Jeapordy, Wheel of Fortune and so on. If you ask me, all of those are totally undo-able. If anyone else has more info about these, please say so.

You know, I wonder how doable a game-show game would have been . . . Wheel, at least, I can see not being entirely impossible, although it'd look like shit, and you'd know all the puzzles by heart after like 6 games . . .

I believe the consensus on that is that no VCS code was ever laid down and they developed the same titles for the NES and various computers instead.

Black Lamp was a side-scrolling adventure game that was released in Europe by Atari for the XE line in the late '80s. There was also a game of the same name released by Rainbird for the ST around the same time; I'm not sure if this was the same title. Perhaps the VCS version of BL would have followed the general plotline of these two games.

Was actually started. I talked to the programmer. Unfortunately it didn't get far before it was canceled. There is no prototype

There is some mention of Galaga on some Atari internal documentation. Unfortunately the programmer they have listed says he didn't do it! This one may have been started, but most likely got put on hold and never picked up.

Nope that was a hoax. However I believe the real one is out there somewhere. A case for this game has been found (empty since it was for promotional purposes).

I think you're thinking of the Colecovision version. I don't recall hearing anything about the 2600 version being found.

Not only doable, but DONE! I've talked to the sound programmer for the game and he says it was done. I haven't been able to track down the programmer, but I'm hoping a copy exists somewhere.

I would say there's a better chance of the 8-bit version existing than the 2600 version. Most likely the 5200 version was never started since it would have been ported from the unreleased 8-bit version.

Sinistar exists somewhere. The 8-bit version (which would have been ported to the 5200) was done or nearly so. Been trying to track down the programmer for some time now. Another programmer I talked to said the game looked awesome!

A non-playable demo was found on a developer machine. Rom has not been released. Who knows how much further it got?

Believe it was on the GSN History of Video Games Special . . . He didn't want his name on the game because it didn't have a full 11 players on each side . . . For that to have been the case, some sort of proto w/o 11 players on each side would have had to exist . . . Personally, I suspect we'll see it next summer sometime.

Computer Revenge from M Network was a port of an Intellivision game. The problem was, the Intellivision game didn't get made. There were two different Intellivision programmers working on games that had a similar look, a moving 3D grid. The marketing guys wanted the two programmers to combine the games, even though they weren't related at all except for a nice graphic effect. If I remember right from what was said on the Blue Sky Ranger's web site, one programmer left the company, and no work ever got started to combine what little code was available. The marketing department wanted ports for other systems at the same time, so it was announced for the 2600, but no code was ever started. In fact, they didn't really have much of an idea what the game would even be about, other than have a nice Battlezone kind of look.

Nope, he owns a Stone Age by CCE (a brazilian company who mostly released pirate games). At this moment it is however unclear of which game Stone Age is a pirate of It looks and plays like Pengo but it is a completely different code base. So it might be a unique game, or a pirate of an undiscovered game...

So it might be a unique game, or a pirate of an undiscovered game...
