As soon as the slashdot bomb gets dropped.
I'll submit a story tomorrow.
You may include this as a quote, "Fairly well known crazy Atari 2600 collector is even comtemplating selling everything in his collection, to remove the word Atari all together from the house.".

this whole thing stinks, and worst of all, there isn't a damn thing we can do about it. They are within their dirty, dirty capitalistic rights. What they are doing is the profitable thing to do, but its not the "right" thing to do in the interest of the love of classic video games, in my opinion. Infogrames wishes to alienate and piss off the very people they expect to market their crap to. Your dollar is your vote people!
needless to say, I'm pissed (and most of you will probably say I'm overreacting, as I did when this happened to the hacks, but first it was the hacks, now the homebrews, they just keep taking, and taking, and if you think its going to stop, you don't understand capitalism and profit hungry corporations very well).
Best case scenario, the "retro" fad ends in a few years and Infogrames forgets all about our little corner of the world again.
But no matter what, this really really stinks.

Did I hear correctly that one of our fellow board members got a "C&D" letter for using an Atari logo in his flyer and on his website to promote a gaming night? That's really f'n ridiculous, if true.

JoustPong and MondoPong are gone too?
I hope this is just a problem with the name and they will return soon.

BTW: I wonder how long it takes until someone digs out the rights for Thrust.

BTW: If negotiations should have no success, AA should start making a list with all now banned games and who banned them. I might get quite long soon.

Hi Paul!
I'll submit a story tomorrow.
Thanks a lot. I wish I had some good contacts to spread the story. Hm... maybe MaO can get the word out to some German mags...
Greetings,
Manuel

I will forward Paul's Slashdot article to several contacts I have at videogame magazines. I am pretty sure that at least 1 or 2 will pick up this issue...

But it wouldn't be the first time. Anyone recall the atarilabs.com fiasco a year or two back? He, too, got a C&D letter both regarding his use of the logo and of the atarlabs.com domain and name for his website (despite the fact that there is no "Atari Labs" division of Infogrames or Atari). He had to give up the use of both to Infogrames.
Welcome to the cold and calculated world of corporate politics, where the sound of your ass being kicked echoes down its marble halls for days...
