It's time for another update! Six new games were added to the list!

So I'm sure you have everyone's Supercharger and Homebrew choices written up on your index cards. Have you considered tallying those up, too?

No, I ignored those. The reason being, very few people voted for them and some had them mixed in with the other games. As far as homebrews go, many have come out since this thread was started years ago so some great homebrews might have missed out on some votes as a result. If Boulderdash is considered a homebrew, its release will have a major impact on such a list. I'd like to see a new thread just for people's Top 5 or 10 homebrews.

Thanks for the list, JacbZu7zu. I was looking forward to your list because you've played so many games. I've always thought E.T. was a unique game that gets a bad rap, but the agent and doctor always frustrated me.

Yeah, played nearly all of them... some homebrews left to go. A couple oddball titles too like Spacemaster D7??,Threshold or Laser Gates etc. I chose games that I have most nostalgia, I like personaly, or pencil erases on my high scores... it's tough to pick only 10!

Cool! The agent doc, are tough, til you memorize where the wells are. Then it's a fun ride, E.T.'s my favorite Atari charecter to move around, even his head "extends" like in the movie.

E.T., was one of the first Atari 2600 games I ever played... before I ever got an Atari.

In the 80's I played some 2600 games at my cousins (198? well the 80's), she had E.T., Asteroids, and a few others. I also got to be in awe of Pitfall, (loved the activision artwork) I was actually pretty jealous my cousin got that... but I totally didn't lead on. I was smiling anyway, I told her.. THAT'S A GOOD ONE! ... she nodded. (I remember it had buzz somehow??) I did play my brothers "borrowed" Pitfall once, when I was a 4-5 yrs old in early 80's... it was amazing, and the alligators creeped me out! I was a little kid/thing in 80's, (youngest of 2 bros)... but I remember E.T. impressed me for some reason, years later I got my cousins copy LOL she finally got rid of it, when she moved... and I bought the manual and got to really enjoy the different quests and finding easter egg/s. The better I got, more I liked it...it's my Adventure, so to say...

My first Atari 2600, I got from the newspaper... $15. I still remember how much hahah. It was the all black Vader 2600 console. I guess you can say that's my favorite model of all. I also like the 6'er woodgrain a lot. I got interested again with Atari because of the article in one of the first Gamepro magazines 1989, in the back it was called "Atari Advantage".

I also ALMOST bought an Atari jacket from, "2600 Connection newsletter"? My mother said, "its kinda cool you could get that, if you want." but the silver remined me of futuristic attempts in the early 80's, and it was nearing 1990!? I was too embaressed/shy to pull it off.. lol. I sorta wanted it though, possibly my first gulity pleasure... I passed on, ah well.

I could go on for days about gaming memories, my mind works like a computer...
I don't forget much.

Here's a video of the "Silver Future" look of the early 80's...
www.youtube.com/embed/LQoUtmL5hUo
I'm sure Kim Carnes could pull the look off better then I could! :D

Sorry if video didn't show up front... I can't remember how to do it
or maybe videos are blocked now?? ... :P

E.T. was one of the first games I played, too. A friend of mine had it along with Haunted House, Circus Atari, and a handful of other games. She had one of those little binders that held 8 games. When I finally got an Atari of my own (well, a Sears Telegames model), probably in 1983 or 84, I had to have Haunted House and Circus Atari. They were two of the first games I got. E.T. I acquired either by borrowing from or trading with my friend. I ended up with her E.T. and Kangaroo. She got my Time Pilot and Plaque Attack (I would end up replacing them via eBay). She got the better end of that deal, but I doubt she still has them. She is actually a Facebook friend of mine, but I've never asked her if she remembers the Atari. Anyway, I only played E.T. on the easy level because I couldn't deal with the agent and doctor. I didn't utilize the graphics at the top and would just try and run away from them all the time, falling in wells frequently. I guess she explained to me how to play it as I never had the manual.

I have one of those silver Atari jackets. It's a Kids jacket, but XL so it fits me. I like that futuristic '80s look. I like Kim Carnes, too. Great raspy voice. "Bette Davis Eyes" is one of my favorite songs.

Oh yeah you took a picture of that silver jacket in the Tapper contest, :D We both got E.T.'s from another. Your friend got the more rare deal with Pilot and Plaque, but I really like E.T. and Kangaroo (obviously). Heh, I played Kangaroo a lot when I first got it.

I remember you did very well 2nd place for Time Pilot in 2600 HSC. That UFO level is HARD!
I also remember I got 1st place in Plaque Attack. I was very pleased with that showing...

Miss Carnes... yeah the rasp, kinda like a female Bryan Adams. I like his stuff too... !
Kim Carnes, is my favorite right now... for a long time I only knew of her #1 hit Bette Davis (2nd biggest song of all 80s')... but I heard a different song, on Flashdance soundtrack, "Here where the heart is", that one did it for me... and I remembered to check more of her songs, "Voyeur" is a very dramatic song, love that one!, good video for it too.
That song was supposed to follow up Bettes success, but I think the subject and music was too dark for it's time, it did chart though only peaked in billboard 20's. Um, there's some touching love songs or break-up songs Kim wrote too...
Hanging on by a Thread and Breaking away from Sanity. It really puts new female singers to shame... you don't hear maturity, class and style like this anymore.

Sorry Adele, I'm not diggin' ya! That "Coulda' had it all" song annoys me... and the words aren't
anything I haven't heard before and better, IMO. Plus she's not very interesting in interview, and
a Glee fan ugh... :\

I think since 80's she's sorta been forgotten in radio... but she still performs live, age mid-60's now, I found a website, dating new performaces and plenty of South American shows.

I'll have to check out more Kim Carnes stuff on Spotify. I only had the album Mistaken Identity and the only songs I liked were "Bette Davis Eyes" and "Draw of the Cards." I also got the 45 for "Crazy in the Night" when it came out and fell in love with the B-Side "Oliver (Voice on the Radio)." I've played that song a lot. It isn't on YouTube, otherwise I'd post it. That "Voyeur" song was good but the video/audio was messing up. I'll see if Spotify has the album. I love '80s music! I'm always looking for stuff I haven't heard before. There's just so much of it! There's always something new-to-me to listen to. :-D

I remember getting the patch-winning score for Plaque Attack the first time I played it. I couldn't believe it! It took me two tries to get that score during HSC, but I'm getting old ;). The Time Pilot score I got was on my first try and I never got there again. It was frustrating. I don't know what happened on that first play. I guess I had yet to realize how tough the UFOs were and wasn't intimidated by them.

Oh I'm 80's "obsessed"... if you want I can suggest a good 12,000 songs lol! Yeah Kim's Mistaken album, I never heard all through, but I liked those two songs... Cards and Bette... but wow, her next two albums... "Voyeur" "Cafe Racers"... those two are my favorites of her, lots of good 80's songs, only "one" song on both albums I don't really like.

Check Youtube for the Carnes videos... "You make my heart beat faster", she goes on a date? Go carts?.. romantic video and "Invisible Hands" is like an Atari commercial, pure 80's video and funny.

Just like video games, I like my music early 80's. Like 70% of my entire mp3s tags say "1982"

Right now I'm listening to British 80's bands, Glass Museum and The Passage. Creativity through the roof...
sounds like David Bowie meets Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Kate Bush.

That's great! Early '80s was awesome. Definitely my favorite music era. I put together my favorite 50 albums list, and 1981 was the key year for me, but i had a lot from the 1980-1984 period represented.

Does anyone remember the name of the game where if you get game over (or die), the screen begins to be taken over line by line (colored lines), accelerating until the entire screen is overtaken?! It was scary. I must see it again.
