Yeah pretty surprising considering I dropped out about 2 months ago.

Real life just has this way of getting in the way.

I'm sure gooch woulda surpassed me if we were still on the 1 game a week schedule.

To solve the missing time problem, it was a good idear to let the contest run two weeks, so at least you could play in at weekend.

here a new score:

5199

sorry for the winter sun

A good tick is:
Wait untill you reach more than 900 points (988 is the best, cause than only one bomb is left in that wave) and then miss the bomb. That means, that you loose a life, but you will get another when you reach 1000 points. If you reach 1000 points without loosing a life, your extra live was a waste. The next wave is also easier.

With joystick this game is very hard - paddles are a must!

THings Ive learned are - 1 - try to die just before crossing a 1000 point threshold if you have 3 buckets. The game will start at level below current difficulty - above 1K this is hard to time

Ive also heard folks watch the bomber and not the bombs to determine where to go on the faster levels - this never worked for me

With "impossible to control anything" i meant that the game does nothing.
Only when moving to the right, the game starts and that's all.
Other games are working properly with the same setting.... so I have no idea about it...exept a bug in the emulator

Ah,

It works for me - but you do need to press the fire button to start each level?

Make sure the game is set to joystick also. It will have a small picture of either a paddle or a joysitck to tell you what it is set on .

emkay: I have the same prob with joystick in emu, so I set mouse device as paddles and play with mouse. But as bjk says, you can select joystick with F2 (option?). There are some settings and the icon on tp is changig, dunno what is what, but with some setting the joystick is working.

Kick my As ;) ... I never had the game Kaboom! or even a Paddle .
The game has its priority for paddle usage, so I had to select Joystick and ... violà .... it worked.
Cause of no training with that game and the missing paddle control... put me in with 1020 points( no screenshot)

To make you guys sweat, just take a look at the screenshot... more than 10000 points. I encountered a bug in the game, just have a look:

Default setting for kaboom are 1P with Paddles.

To change the controller, use OPTION Key (F2 in some emulators)

Pressing OPTION one time you get 1P with Joy.

Another thing :
I suggest an antidoping test for scores beyond 3000

Gosh, what I would kill to get ahold of an old Ball mouse, so I can turn it into a paddle controller and show you guys how to REALLY play this... I aint kidding, because on the Atari 2600, its exactly the same game... except for the no jingle when you collecto the bombs, and my max on there is over 64k.

But, with a mouse, I got 4,895. So far
