I think everyone knows how much I love the game (I'm willing to bet I'm one of it's biggest fans), so I've thought up a special little challenge: Get the game on an emulator (or play the real thing, it doesn't matter), play as long as you can, then take a picture of your high score! Family fun! I want to see who can get the highest score! Do you dare accept the challenge?

Xenophobe is definitely an awesome game, but I have to admit that I totally suck at it...

I may have to look into this one. Xenophobe was the sole reason I wanted the 7800. You could say it was the "Killer App" in deciding I had to have one. Too bad your talking about 2600 Xenophobe..but I will see all the same.

Have to do mine in StellaX and then take a screen grab. I don't have the 2600 copy as it is semi ultra rare in NTSC format.

Thanks for the compliment on the Avatar. While I don't use that one...and you didn't direct that compliment towards me. I created it and hence will accept you compliment that way.

The 2600 Xenophobe is tough! I can score about 150,000 points if I'm lucky! What can be considered a "decent" score for this game?

Now that you've mentioned it, your avatar is pretty cool, too.

Well, decent for me is rolling it a few times, so I'd say that rolling it at least once is decent. However, 150,000 is pretty good. If you want to post that, you'll be the current leader.

Does the score roll at 999,999?

What's the secret to lasting so long? The largest Xenophobes are what give me the most trouble...once they hit you a few times and destroy your weapon, you're lucky to last long enough to find another gun! Hand to hand combat is tough in this game.

Yep.

There's really no secret to lasting, just use what works for you. The big Xenos are pretty hard, so you have to work out a system. I can't recommend anything since, again, I don't know what works for you, it depends on how you play the game.

Well, I have a cautious-defensive style of play method when it comes to the 2600 Xenophobe.

I rarely go into a new room with guns blazing, instead, I'll cautiously step into a new room, assess any potential threat and then figure out a plan of action to deal with whatever threats I am presented with.

Sounds like a good plan. Now for me, anything below the the big Xenos aren't much of a threat, but when one of them huge buggers come in, I start pumping them full of lead (or in this case laser).

Man this game is hard, I got a whopping 575 points before I got killed, they run across you like 3 times before you can kill 'em!
