Wow i got to play one at the lea market today and i have to say im very impressed. It wasent for sale it was part of the guys personal collection he had to pay 200 dollars for it. I had to pay 130$ for my turbo 16 and cd add on and really i havent played it all that much. So why di i want the super grafix well i have to say it has the ebst version of gouls N goblins i have ever played. Its a shame this system is so rare and exspensive because i would love to have the gouls N goblins game. So any one out there have on of theis puppys?

I'd say the bigger shame here is that the SuperGrafx didn't get more games ported to it in the first place. I don't mind spending $X00 on a system if there's actually a good selection of good games for it (hence my NeoGeo), but I'd be hard pressed to pay upwards of $200 for a system with only a handful of games (and all japanese releases at that).
If you're that big a fan of Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, you'd probably be better off just playing it in MAME. However, the SuperGrafx certainly is an oddity that would complement any collection. Whether that's worth the money to you is something only you can answer. --Zero |

I had many chances of buying the Supergrafx (during it's lifetime, and during some closeout sales).. but I always passed. It just has too few games, and yeah Ghosts and Goblins on it is pretty sweet... but personally I've played through and beaten that game on both Genesis & Arcade versions umpteen times so that's sort of low on it's appeal pretty much.
.. I wouldn't mind one though... especially if it was free |

With my Turbo Duo and Japanese Hu-Card adapter I can play just about any TG-16 game out there except for the 5 Supergrafx games. And from what I've seen of them, they're just not worth it. It takes more than an extra layer of scrolling to get me excited.
They really should have made the Supergrafx and add-on to the TG-16. It would have sold big I'm sure (if it wasnt too expensive). Tempest |

If you're that big a fan of Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, you'd probably be better off just playing it in MAME. --Zero Ghouls 'n Ghosts also has a fine port in the Capcom Classics Collection for PS2/Xbox and Capcom Generations for PSX, if you don't want to pirate the game. It's not arcade perfect, but it's much closer to the arcade than the Super Grafx and Genesis versions. Both the Genesis and Super Grafx versions are good ports, though. Also, the Genesis version is very easy to find and not on a system with only a handful of specific games. This post has been edited by BrianC: Sun Jun 11, 2006 6:37 PM |
