"Fishies"
Has a nice ring, doesn't it! No? Okay - well I guess I didn't think so either - you got a better one?
Here's the deal: I need a name for my forthcoming 2600 homebrew game, and I want you to come up with it. Yes, this is the Name That Game Contest!
Here's how it works: post your brilliant suggestion(s) for the name for the game in this thread and, if I pick yours, you win my enduring gratitude. Not enough motivation? Well, how about this:
AtariAge has graciously offered to give a free copy of the upcoming game, with manual, to the winner! How cool is that! Pretty cool, unless you hate the game or something, you jerk. :P
Plus, you will get credit in the manual and the name you so ingeniously thought up will of course appear on the cartridge and manual and probably appear on the title screen in the game if I can swing it.
All this could be yours! All you gotta do is come up with something good and post it here.
Fine Print: In the case of duplicates, the first to post the winning title will be the winner. I will probably not choose a name that obviously references a movie/book/other video game. Who knows, though? It doesn't hurt to submit names like that, one might strike my fancy. I am going to say that my family members are not eligible to win. Sorry Tommy. Sorry Joe.
Please keep other, unrelated discussion of the game in it's thread in the Homebrews forum.
Thanks!

Here are my incredibly fantastic submissions
[size=18]Grow Fish! A take on the card game Go Fish!, and it nicely summarizes the game in two words. The exclamation point at the end is a nice little homage to Shark! Shark! [size=18]Gulp! In the grand tradition of one word Atari games with exclamation points at the end of them (like Kaboom! or Oink!). [size=18]Eat 'Em to Beat 'Em Hey, it's true -- that's what you've gotta do! NE146 would be a guaranteed customer! [size=18]Ocean Motion A very classy title that is also catchy. I hope you like them, vdub_bobby. BTW, I also like Lost Monkey's [size=18]Survival of the Fishest (a slight improvement in my opinion over Rob Mitchell's "Survival of the Fishes" and Thomas Jentzsch's "Survival of the Fishiest" because it sounds more like "survival of the fittest") |

I realize you probably would've gotten it in before me if you hadn't been commenting on the "Fishes, Fishest, Fishiest" suggestion... |

Nathan Strum said: I really like "Go Fish!" - short, simple, descriptive, and it already has instant name recognition. That would have my vote. If I had a vote. Pshaw! YOU don't have a vote! :D It is nice...but so are many of the others posted so far. I'll withhold judgement for now. Nice cart art too, neotokeo; a label contest is also forthcoming - but gotta have a name first! |
