It only fits into a Genesis1 but will work just fine on both a Genny1 and Genny2. If you're willing to cut the back off of the PBC then you won't have any trouble running it on your Genny2. Although your best bet would probably just to buy a Genny1 along with the PBC instead. You can probably find a model 1 console for about $10.

You can probably also run the PBC naked.

And for what it's worth, the Genny 3 IS 100% incompatible with the PBC.

I heard the Genesis 3 being marketed by "another" company other than Sega, the compatability with the Z80 processor is none what-so-ever.

Exactly correct. The Genesis 3 was manufactured by Majesco, and is not compatible with the PBC whether you cut it up or not, simply because there is no Z80 in it. They removed it to cut costs. I believe that their version of the Game Gear was also incompatible with the SMS cart adapter and the Sega TV Tuner.

Yah. Majesco made it under license. As an attempt to make it as cheap as possible, they yanked anything they could while maintaining a reasonable level of software compatibility.

The z80 can be yanked without killing most games, though several exhibit odd sound behavior.

Even if they didn't yank the z80, I'd bet the mode toggle is a single pin on the cart slot that gets shorted to ground(like on the GameGear). And if you don't wire that pin, you've saved a cent or so on board costs.
Same thing would kill the 32x/Virtua Racing even assuming 100% compatibility everywhere else. No clock line=no expansions, but everything else is fine.

I think im just going to hunt down a master system thanks for the offer though. I dont think i ever use my model 3 maybe its because of how dumb the thing looks (why are the wires comming out of the side?). But really i only got it to get all 3 but shortly after i got it i realized how dumb an idea that actully was. so if i see a cheap model one i will get it but not for mre then oh say 10.
