I come home today with abotu 6 packages in my door. Wrestling tapes, Atari games and a slip for the grandaddy of them all, picking up the 7800 at the post office. 4 oclock comes and I drive down to the post office and pick it up and I've been giddy ever since. Tomorrow my grandma, my mom, and I all go to my cousins house tomorrow and even though it's well before her bday, I think I'll give it to her there. I put everything in a big box and wrapped it up nice and tomorrow, I find out if it works. I don't have a spare tv to test it on in my house because I've got about 7 systems hooked up in various rooms. Any comments? I wanna add to this thread after it works or doesn't (in which case I will flip) so bump it up with whatever you wanna ask or say. I'll add in all the carts I've gotten in so far so you can check out my taste in a few minutes.

I hope she likes it. Don't forget to tell us all the conclusion to the story! I am getting pretty excited too. I'm waiting on my Atari 7800 to come in the mail. I can't stand it. I've been waiting for the mailman at the door everyday, no luck yet, but soon!

I had a bad experience with that. I was all excited and waiting for mine to come in the mail, and then I open it up and the metal plate was gone, and it was all dinged up. Thats 3 of 3 bad Yahoo Autions. I'm never bidding again there. Buyer beware, and Life goes on. Hope you have good luck with yours!

I presume there was no picture with this auction? Unless I'm familiar with the seller, in this day and age I have a hard time bidding on auctions that don't include pictures. That's not to say someone won't intentionally misrepresent an auction that has pictures, but when there's *no* picture who knows what you're going to get. I don't know if I've ever actually won an auction on Yahoo, sorry to hear about your bad experiences.

I agree, I avoid yahoo auctions and amazon auctions like I try to avoid the plague. I have yet to ever recieve anyhting I ordered from either of those two auction houses. I also agree with the picture theory. Sometimes things stay cheaper without a picture and it is tempting to bid on them, but who knows what it really is, could even be a cardboard cutout in the likness thereof of your item, the seller could say he/she thought it was real. Scarry stuff.

More often than not, the picture for an auction is not for the actual item being sold. They are usually recycled.

Whenever I sell something on ebay, I just swipe the picture from somebody else's ebay listing and use it in mine, providing it shows just the item I am selling. I have a flawless reputation on ebay and the person mostly just goes by what I describe. The picture is kinda just there for reference purposes. Then again, it helps that all of my items are well cared for and 99.9% of the time in new condition.

Why do I do this? Because sometimes I don't feel like pulling out the digital camera.

That could be considered theft, I had an auction that I posted, then a week later there was an auction for the same thing and there were MY pictures in this other auction. I fired off a letter to the seller and was returned with a rude reply, but he did remove the pics. I feel it is dishonest to do this as the pictures posted are not the actual item being sold. And those of us who have taken the time to buy a digital camera, take the pics, process them and post them, at least me, do not appreciate this practice.

I know how you feel! I hate recycled pictures on eBay auctions. I take pictures of every item I sell, and once it's gone I don't ever use the same picture again. I would be ticked off if someone stole my pictures for their auction!
