Hey all, well as a long time reader hardly any time poster, I thought it time to ask the experts a stupid question

I recently spent quite a sum on a Woodgrain Atari which is in very good/excellent condition. It has 6 switches instead of what I thought was the normal 4.

It has the difficulty switches for both the left and right controllers on each side of the cartridge slot then the normal 4 switches.

It came boxed but I was disappointed to find that it was just the box of a Vader

So anyways, would someone be as kind to give a guestimate of what one of these guys is worth, and maybe a comparative rarity to the rest of Atari 2600's?

Is it the Heavy Six Switch or the lighter Six Switch?

Does the label on the bottom indicate a Sunnyvale, CA address?

The prices fluctuate wildly from week to week although the six-switch woodgrains are always the most in demand. I've got one and I love it. Have a look at ebay to get an idea of what you could expect it to fetch.
They're generally more expensive in PAL countries (like yours and mine) as US ntsc machines are WAY more common.

The six-switch is the original Atari VCS by the way, only later did they knock it down to 4 (putting 2 of the switches round the back) and call it the 2600.
I'm not surprised it came in a mismatching box, I've seen a lot of that with PAL systems, my juniors all came in the wrong boxes, only by getting all variants did I put them all back in the right ones

Well going by what this site has to say I would say mine is not the Heavy Six-switch. It does not have a label on the bottom indicating where it is made (only a 192 stamped into the plastic) But going by the pictures, mine has the brown pin stripe around the switches/cartridge slot.

Oh well I am geeting close, next time maybe I will get that ellusive Heavy Six-switch 2600

Mine is a Sunnyvale heavy six switch and it also has the orange/brown striping around th cart slot and switches. The only real way to distinguish between the heavy and non-heavy sixers is to check out the thickness of the plastic border molding around the edging of the unit (especially around the woodgrain area).
