I just bought some remote joysticks for the 2600 the original atari ones.

When hooked up they make my character go nuts. Sometimes I can control my character, but most of the time he goes in circles.

Even when the both joysticks are turned off.

I have heard these work with radio waves.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I have two of these remote joysticks systems for my 2600 and none of them seem to work. When I use them my game just goes nuts.

I dont have these , but it sounds to me like the reciver thinks that all the buttons are being pressed at the same time. If I had a pair i could probably tell why , but i dont , but check the internals of the reciever and then the joystick for anything out of place. Thats the best i can do for now.

BEST OF LUCK

I have a set that I bought new a couple of years ago and have no problem with them, they work great. Since they were new, hard for me to tell how long they last, seems like several have had problems with them tho.

I think that the problem is either you are getting a lot of interference. Or the joysticks are no longer tuned to the base anymore.

Someone gave me a pair of remote control joysticks because of the same problem. I opened up the receiver and adjusted the frequency adjustment pot until the problem cleared up. Now they both work fine.

Good Luck.

Could a cell phone mess up the signal??

It just seems that when both joysticks are turned off it should not be getting any signals

Thanks for the help

Actually just the opposite. With both joysticks turned off it can pick up lots more interference. If you have both joysticks turned on, the signal from them should be strong enough to override any interference. If you are still having problems when the joysticks are on, than either you have weak batteries that aren't generating a strong enough signal. Or the frequency is a little off.

I don't think a cell phone should make a difference but you can test it. Check to see if there is a difference if one is turned on near the receiver.
