Good lord. I think I'll stick to spending $5 or under for a game.

Wow! Captain Falcon may actually get his $7000 back on that cart. And I thought Atari prototype auctions got out of control. I wish I had several thousand to throw away on a single cart...

I didn't think it would go past $4K. I bid $2K on it.. coz I knew the reserve was way higher than that.. I just wanted to be able to say that I once bid $2000 on a video game.

It looks like the heavy hitters are starting to go after this one. LJNWrestlers and Mike Gedeon to be precise. Why do I have a feeling that BuyAtari is going to win this one in a snipe for like $7-8K?

I suppose it could.. but then again, you should just be able to swap the Eproms, right?

Besides, people aren't buying this because they want to play it. People want it because it's insanely rare (only 26 exist), and there's a famous story behind it.. and it was immortalized in the movie "The Wizard". I mean, for $5K you could buy the whole NES library (all 770 or so games) if you really wanted to, with change left over.

I would rather bu lotts of games than just that one game, for that price.

I think so would most people.. but if you're a "hard core collector" you get to the point where you own all the games for the system.. or, say, all but 1. Then you'll go out of your way to get that one final cart.. even if it costs you a fortune.

I could see myself blowing a bunch of money to get the finishing touches for a collection. For me that would probably be a Colecovision cart.. but that's still a couple years off.. I still need about 25 different titles.

Cheers,

KA

LochJaw recently sold on EBAY for $790 I think it was.....

That's insanity for you. The bidders might as well have someone mold a nintendo game out of solid gold and just stick a chip in it. It would probably be cheaper than risking everything on this auction. Good luck to the winner.

I already have a gold NWC so you don't have to worry about me sniping it.

How much did you pay for it? Or are you the original owner?

Oh my goodness, I had no idea that there were any carts for any system worth that kind of cash. Simply amazing. I haven't started collecting NES carts yet, so I wasn't even aware of these NWC carts. At least now if I see one in the wild I'll know to pick it up, even if the flea market dealer demands $20 for it.

I hope this ends the complaining about videogame prices once and for all - at least on 2600 stuff

BuyAtari: Already owning one of something in the past hasn't ever stopped you from acquiring another one, has it?

Take care,

That is absolutely insane.

I mean there are 26 of them around. Is it really that rare. I just cannot comprehend spending that much money on a game.

Well.. there are like 350 million people in North America.. and there are 26 of these.. so yeah, I'd say they're rare. There's about a couple dozen Honus Wagner T-206 cards known to exist, and those fetch well over $100K in auctions.

Let me tell you something about the rich: They're very different than you or I.

OMG! The 2600 cart is not nuts, its just a fine piece. He had a Pengo earlier this week in the box go for 80. I quit far before that. Its Pengo, I can have the real machine for 150!!!

As for that Nintendo thing, good googa. Thats too much for me. And I dont think Adventurevision is overpriced!

sounds damn right ... only our protos might remain, the day we'll be grandfathers .... or we'll have to order new copies of every single cart from randy's son at hozervideo, while in the meantime randy will sit on a beach in the bahamas ...... he might get flooded with orders in 10 or 20 years

Nintendo had a contest in Nintendo Power for these carts. The winners names and addresses were posted. Believe me all those winners have already been contatced. Many were lost or thrown out. Only 6-8 survived.

How many hundred Malagai were produced?
Yet only 10 or so survive they say.

Yeah I wouldn't mind having another gold but I am buzy working on a grey.

I have in sitting next to my Atlantis 2 competetion cart in my Atari display case now all I need are the Swordquest competetion carts.

Someone, please help me out here.

I own this game, but it's not the gold one.

What's the difference between the gold and non-gold paks?

What do you all think the non-gold one would go for.
