It's not really worth alot of $$$ it's more like a good demo of a game...

There are some bugs in the releases I have seen...

Hey Saturn,
I hope you don't eat shit for that from somebody here but you are one of the nicest guys around. Rock on :-)
Just had to let it go, when I saw your reply.
By the way I like your reply to what Richard said on the other board. Now that I replied here I don't need to say the same thing over there :-)
Greetings
Peter

Wasn't a glitch free version supposed to have been found? I would love to see that.

Thanks for the props Peter.
I think hooking someone up for free vs what was illegally taking place on ebay is a step in the right direction.

As for JustClaws, I hope he (and several others) don't stay away forever. :)

Yeah, there's one copy of a bug free version out there that I know of.
Not sure how complete it is, though.

I'm surprised Carl hasn't tried to license this and release it. It's one of the best known Jag protos. Is Core Design even in business anymore?

I'm not sure about Core Design but I certainly wish they'd have seen it through to completion.
These three levels are awesome! I can only imagine how incredible it would have been.

Maybe Carl (or others in the community) could track down whatever's left of the company and at least nab the source code. :lust:

I thought Core Design eventually got turned into Rockstar North? I'm not sure about that.

Dude, since you're handing out copies of Soul Star.......... Toss one my way! :D

Actually I just read that the Jag version of Soul Star was outsourced to another group. Apperently Core didn't have anything to do with it.

I have spoken to Core Design several times over the past 5 years, even to people who were somewhat familiar with the unpublished Jaguar port, and they were not interested at all. And since the proto of SS has some severe graphics glitches in it which will actually cause the game to crash, I only pressed the issue so far. I knew it would take a ton or work (way more than I did for TC) to try to fix all those problems without source.

So SS remains one of the coolest (but also buggiest) unpublished games for the Jag...

Thanks for trying! It is too bad that SS got shafted so early, I really liked the Sega CD version too.

And thanks to Saturn! :lust:

I don't know if you guys know but the game seems to be complete. Once you get past that buggy cpu core part you can play on. I haven't finished the game because it's damn hard and I hadn't enough continues. You have to play on hard to pass that buggy part. After that there are just some minor glitches but the game is all there. I made it to a underwater level and if I remember correctly gunstar made it even further. So unless someone knows better I would say the game is complete just that there are those annoying bugs.

From what I've heard about SoulStar is that there is at least one good copy out there and the glitches that are in the game are from bad copies being made and handed out around the community. If this is true and we could find the original copy, then I think Soul Star could be published rather easy if Core would allow it.

I'd really like to know where the supposed to be finished copy landed.
It's really a great game. Oh and Walter I have no codes but I really would love to. The game is damn hard and without a save feature I guess I'll never be able to make it....
We'll see

Soul Star just rocks.

I remember how people would (and do) jump around on Phase Zero to get around the unfinished levels. If we could somehow find the warp codes for Soul Star then it would totally rock.

Now that would rock, but I still hope that the glitchfree version shows up. It would make the game better to play and one could progress to the later levels also on easy and medium which would make the game easier. It's funny though that normaly I don't play the games directly on hard. Soulstar forces you to do that and it works. You make progress after some tries it's just so frustrating that you have to start all over again when you lost your last continue.....guess in this form I will never finish the game....
Let's hope the good version shows up one day. Or your mentioned codes. Are there any in the sega version?

Hint: Level skip:
To skip the stage 2 and stage 3 in the warp ship, exit through the hard way. This will allow you to bypass the first few stages.

Hint: Defeating the Boss:
Save your bomb for the Boss. Use RAM when you need extra firepower. The X beam is very powerful if you build it up. The L beams and C beams are some of the best weapons. M bombs are good for the Boss in the warp ship and the one in the city place.

Hint: Escape the warp ship:
An easy way to escape the warp ship is to use the M bombs on those machines. That allow you to warp. Exit the easy way.

Sounds like action based cheats so might work.

Seems like your version might be less buggy than others. Mine will crash eventually in the cpu and will crash always on easy or medium. I can only access the hard gate.....
Hm....

That makes no sense. If it can't be copied, then that would also mean the jag cd can't read it. But if the jag cd can read it, then it can be copied. You just need to know how to do it.
