I have a 1200xl and 800xl and both of the keyboards are failing. I'm afraid to replace the mylars for fear of it happening again. As I currently have about 8 5200 controllers whose flex circuits have failed. Is there any 8-bit that doesn't use the mylar or is there a replacement keyboard that I can use.

You can get some Atari 800s that have brass leaf switches in each key, but most have the same type of membrane keyboard found in the 1200XL.

Pop off a keycap, if you see a square hole with two little metal contacts sticking up you have one of the great 800 keyboards, hang onto it.
