Hi!

Just wondering if anyone here has ever had a problem with a cartridge not displaying color.

I sold a few cartridges, Hardball, Star Raider and Defender, to someone. He sent me an email saying that Defender was playing in Black and White. I sent him a reply back explaining to him how to clean the contacts. His reply:

"I did clean the cart and it didn't help. I tested it on an Atari 800XL,
the only Atari computer I have.
To be honest, I am using an odd setup of using a portable LCD DVD player
which takes video in, as my monitor.
Color on everything else Atari on it looks just fine, and looks just
like it did on my old CRT monitor I used to use.
Everything is just white.
I can see a few colored pixels here and there, and the line across the
top is red for a split-second (while the rest of the screen is pure
white) when I set off the smart bomb.

I will send some photos to show you what I mean."

He sent photos. Hardball and Star Raiders looks perfectly colorful, but Defender is completely Black and White in the photos.

As far as I know, the Defender cart was a regular NTSC cart and it played fine on my XEGS before I sent it.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks for any possible help!

Unless something in the cart is messing up the power supply by overdrawing it, I'm having a hard time coming up with a reason that could happen.
