I have a Atari 800XL with a faulty memory, I think.
I got some faulty characters when booting in dos and faulty graphic then playing games.
I also have another eprom with a (newer??) OS including a memorytest. This memory test faild.
Then I got some memory from a working C64 (same chip MT4264-15), and exchanged the memory chips.
Now, the 800XL will not boot, the screen is all red and green :(
I changed back to the original memorychips, in the same order (same chip in the same place)
Exactly the same error as with the C64 memory....

Did I ruin my 800XL or might there be a faulty controllchip somewhere?
What does the red/green screen mean? is screencolors some kind of errorcode?

You may have bent a pin on the memory. You could have a burned out chip. I think the ANTIC chip controlls the memory. Not sure though. My 800xl keyboard just failed. But it turned out to be a bad CD4051BE I.C. Or it could be your GTIA. That controls the graphics of the Atari.
