Hi,

As emkay doesn't want me to finish the Sonic demo, i'll just release the final version of the tune that i worked on in the Hardsynth thread. I don't work on it any longer, because I think it's finished. So i just drop it here.

It's a tune from the SEGA (genesis 16bit) game 'Sonic the Hedgehog II' (Wing Fortress zone).

It's written in RMT (thumbsup to Raster for developing this tool). I used the non-standard 15kHz pokey setting to get a real massive sound.

regards,
mux

Sounds cool... But the final empty music piece... something is missing... it appears to be out of tune.

I found this remix, and apply electrical guitar, piano and finally synthethizer. Some ideas for tunning RMT Atari version

Thanks for posting Mux. This version sounds superior to the one I was holding onto (v5). It sounds smoother/cleaner, with less background noise. Although, I should mention that I am using an Emu to listen. So, maybe I am missing some things that would be heard on actual hardware. Once again, very good pokey music, especially considering it is for a hard-synth.

I also listened to your posting of the original (I believe it was a midi or mp3). You've done a good job at capturing the feel of the original tune with 8-bit style. I love the threshold that the a8's sound capabilities lie on (and graphics for that matter). Always keeps you wanting just a little bit more, but not so much as to spoil the challenge (fun). I think that's part of the reason why I'm still attracted to these older (vintage) machines.

Wish I had time to toy around with RMT myself (maybe next year).

Here some ideas:

Someone writes a full supporting POKEY-Synth-Tracker.
Then someone writes a MIDI to POKEY converter.
Then someone can do "fully in tune" instruments, as far as Squarewaves can be tuned in.

BtW: the Guitar of the MP3 has timing issues that takes it partially out of tune, too
:D
