I'm in the process of working my way through "Ultimate Spider-Man" on the GameCube. As mentioned previously, I generally enjoy Treyarch's work, having bought Spider-Man on the Dreamcast, Spider-Man 2 on the XBox and Spider-Man: The Movie on the Cube as well.

One thing I'll never understand, however, is why Treyarch thinks those annoying "chase" levels are entertainment. I'm in the process of "chasing" Electro as Venom and have nearly kicked my Cube out the Window more than once trying this for the thirtieth time.

Treyarch puts these stupid levels in every game and god, how I despise them.

Without wishing to be a "spoiler", and without wanting to ruin any chance of you having fun, but there's an even worse and more annoying chase level more or less immediately after you complete that one.

It's quite a few annoying chases in the game. It's a cool concept for a game with the cell shaded comic book graphics but the chases are the worst and some of the bosses are overly diffifcult. With all that it still doesn't take much time at all to beat this game.

Who likes chase levels? Honestly, who thinks chase levels and escort missions are what people want. Have you ever played a game where the highlight for you was the chase level or an escort mission? I think it must be an artificial way to make games last longer.

I've enjoyed a few chase and escort levels.
Not a lot, but some.

If reasonably done, they add a bit of variation to the gameplay without flooding the disk with minigames(Square, I'm looking at you). But when done poorly, they just piss people off.

The chase levels in Treyarch Spider-Man games have nearly made me want to drop the games entirely.

The last level in the Dreamcast version where you are being chased by Monster Ock is one of the most irritating levels I've ever played in any game. This chase with Electro coming in to be almost as irritating.

Shame, because I totally love the regular Spidey action in their titles.

The one with the beatle or the one with that leaping green creature? I couldn't tell which I hated more???

Damn Treyarch -- these things aren't fun. Take a hint.
