these are my favourite that i would like to see converted to the A8

IO
Armalyte
R-type
Turrican 1/2&3
Hypersports
Ghosts/Goblins, Ghouls/Ghosts
Hawkeye
Rainbow islands/Bubble Bobble
Blood money
Paperboy
Rastan Saga
Chaos Engine
Xenon/Xenon2
Giana Sisters (my older brother bought the c64 original when it first came out)
A decent 'colour' version of USG's Gauntlet
Gauntlet 2
Tomb Raider (up to 3)
Some Quake or Doom type game

there are many others that don't come to mind at the mo...

Wasn't there a rumor that Turrican was to be converted but actually ended up as Technus?

Is Technus also called 'Technologie Soldier' or something... if so, they are totally different games, so it would hardly be 'classed' as a port over or conversion

sorry about that atarimania/atari frog

I never wrote it was a conversion, just that the programming team possibly wanted to port Turrican, probably axed the idea very early on and ended up coding Technus.

Dungeons and Dragons. I'd like to see what some of the crative people here could do with this one to make it work.

Doom would also be a nice one to see as a demo application.

I was just thinking about this. I would have to say Crystal Quest and Oregon Trail. Crystal Quest really wouldn't be that hard to do, and it really wouldn't surprise me if someone's already made a version of it for the A8.

The A8's hardware would make it easier to have a 3D game than to have a C64 style scroller.
To say it in other words: We could have a fun Wolfenstein 3D version, but a "Rastan Saga" would never give the wanted result.

Also, I don't think the A8 Gauntlet is bad

For RPGs - couldn't any of the SSI/TSR games be ported from the C64 easily?

Has the A8 got an early "Final Fantasy" or "Pokemon" style game yet?

A Hypersports port (from C64, the BBC version isn't so good) would be good,
although the Track&Field games we have aren't too bad.

I agree that the C64 scrollers (Blood Money, Xenon, R-Type) probably wouldn't cut it on the A8.
Though I think Speedball maybe just possible, something like Ballistix could work OK.

I'd add "Paradroid" & "Stunt Car Racer" to the list too.

Regards,
Mark

He's a few games I would love to see that would be more than possible.

Blue Lightning or Afterburner
Double Dragon
Wrestlefest

And also a couple of obscure but brilliant Spectrum games:

Bak 2 Skool - Possibly the best game ever made by Microsphere.
Viking Raiders - Great strategy game by Firebird.

All of them are good games for an Atari. But I'd prefer the incomplete classics:

- Yie Ar Kung Fu
- Space Harrier
- Super Mario Bross 3
- International Karate +
- Imposible mission
- Shadow of the beast
- Pacmania
- Boinxx

very near near... but so far far far....
