Folks,

In 2 weeks the Winter Olympics start - We will be running our own Winter Olympics event for the HSC :)

It was suggested to use the Tynesoft Winter Olympics '88 to do this.

I cannot find a copy of this - when I try to download it at Atarmania I get a corrupt file msg on the zip.

http://www.atarimani...VERSION_ID=5782

Can someone post it here?

Also,
Suggestions on how we want to run this? Points for each event - setup teams like the 2600 HSC did 2 years ago and award points to the team for each event?

Let me know your thoughts.

As far as teams go, we could simply have countries like they do in the Olympics. :)

Sounds fun.

Seems to work fine :?

BTW, it's Winter Olympiad '88, not Winter Olympics or Winter Events which are different games. Winter Challenge is the US release.

It didnt work for me twice :( - first file I could not get from you - however I did find it at another site :)

As for Countries - well, not sure how many we have represented here - I am from US - Where else????

I need some instructions on this as well. Very well done Olympics game on the 8bit - very ST'ish IMHO. The downhill view is very nice.

Biatholon was easy enough.

Ski Jump I need some details on
Bobsled seems easy enough however its a loooooong course and it appears you need to have multiple good runs?

Im open to suggestions on how to run this so please feel free to chime in.

If you have no luck with that (tip of the hat to Atarimania for many good files and info I've found there...) there is also...

I downloaded the first disk of Winter Olympiad there and it worked on my 800 xl.

Just thought to tell that I'll try and join those A8 Winter Olympics. I highly doubt that WO'88 is really as good as C64 Winter Games, so this'll be interesting to check out! ;)

Does it take anything special to run this game BTW? I get to the title screens with music, may enter a player, but if I select to play biathlon for example, Nothing happens anymore, just a black screen. I'd assume it should me ask to swap disks or something like that?!?

I'll tinker with it tonight. I know there are multiple images to this game.

I would like to introduce the first team of two members: "Team 800".

"Team formed to celebrate the new XL upgrade for the 800 thus making it possible to play Olympics 88 and other XL games for the first time on the beige 800.
Other fans of the beige 800 are welcome to join. Though modified beige 800's will be used, only fandom of the beige 800 is neccessary."

Members: Doctor Clu, Warerat. (so far)
