I even tried dl'ing the ones listed here at atariage (dl'ed batman returns) and whenever I try to run it warns me that fake images won't run on it and then a screen pops up saying C65CO2 update illegal opcode (ff) at pc=$0001. anyone know what I could be doing wrong?

If you have lynxboot.img then just unpack it into the same directory. If you dont have a real lynxboot.img you will not be able to run commercial cartridges, the one in the zip archive is a fake file and Handy will warn you of this. Lynxboot.img is copyright material and I do not have the rights to distribute this with the emulator.
You mentioned a "fake images" message, so I'm assuming that you are trying to run the emulator with the included lynxboot.img. You'll need to find a real lynxboot.img on the internet and replace the one that came bundled with the emulator if you want to play commercial ROMs. I hope this helps.

I'm not sure what a lynxboot.img is though. is that the bios thing that is also available for dl here at atariage?
thnx for the help.

I'm not a huge lynx fan, so I don't follow this stuff that closely... I didn't even check to see if Atariage posted the bios. Yeah, that should be it.

Nope...I prolly needed that image but I'm still unable to run roms/the emulator. keeps giving me that same message. Don't understand what I'm doing wrong, cause this surely isn't the first emu I've used (I've used nes, snes, etc for a couple years now)
the bios thing might also explain why I was never able to get jaguar roms working either though

When in doubt, read the instructions.
