I was asking a friend of my who knows everythjing about computers for 30n years and I told him Im going to order Nintendo Famicom Disks games but he told me it will go blank and or dead cuase of the airport security X-ray machines will usually not affect hard drives. Floppy diskettes, having less shielding, may be affected. SO Im thinking what about Famicom Floppy Disks games? Say I wanted a Metroid game for the Famicom Disk game but then play it on here and notthing happin? What then? And even if I go there in Japan and try to take the games with me here it will still have to go in the airport security X-ray machines. What can I do?? Does this mean I will never game not only Famicom Disk games but others like MSX disk games like Metal Gear?

AFAIK X-ray machines won't hurt the discs. I've never had any problem.

I've ordered old PC disquette games from the US and they worked fine, so I'm guessing nothing will happen to the Famicon disks... :?

Looked it up. Floppies are safe. In fact, you WANT them to go through the X-ray machine. Otherwise they might wind up in the metal detector, which IS bad for them.

Film, on the other hand, is ruined by X-rays. 'S how they discovered radiation in the first place.

But it takes magnetic deflection to focus X-rays. That being said, I would be surprised if it used anything stronger than the yoke in your average TV set. So it should be okay when they're on the conveyor belt.

Heh, one time years ago I came back from a trip with a big speaker magnet in my luggage, from a junk speaker I found while walking around. The person at the X-ray machine didn't say anything. I wonder what it looked like on the screen.
