Greetings,

Can anyone advise what components control the speed in an Atari 810 disk drive? Wait, before you answer, I have tried to adjust the little green potentiometer box on the power board. This works, but the speed is still unstable and the at the closest I can get it wanders at least +/- 6rpm, between 182-194 rpm, while my other 810 only wanders +/- 0.5rpm (188-188.5 rpm)

I replaced the power board with a brand new one, and have tried several power supplies. I replaced the drive mechanism with a brand new one. I lubricated the spindle and motor parts too.

Before I go any further, I am hoping that someone may know what would cause unstable speed. Side board? Analog board? Data separator?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Crash!

Ummm... Possibly the drive belt, If it's loose it can slip and slow down the drive (don't know how it would +speed though). Just a thought!
